Hello fellow steemians. Hope we’re doing okay. Like the popular saying goes, a picture is worth more than a thousand stories. I’m excited to share a story with y’all today. I want to thank @suboohi for organising this beautiful contest.

Have you heard of the organisation called Girls’ Brigade? maybe, or maybe not. I belong there, yes! That’s one of the families I belong to. I joined this paramilitary movement from a very tendre age.

The Girls' Brigade Nigeria, enrollment service.

Girls’ Brigade is an international, an interdenominational Christian, uniform organisation for girls. My elder sister had introduced me to the organisation, but since we didn’t have this body in my church. It was difficult to be consistent, until some years later.

For this reason, I joined the Boys’ Brigade for a number of years until an elderly woman in my church finally brought it to my church.

I became the sergeant of my company, the rank I hold currently. This made me second in command in my church. This organisation has exposed me to so many things about life, and education and skills.

When I became a member, I started travelling to places in my state, and meeting with different girls in my state. This afforded me another avenue for socialisation.

We also meet with different personalities in the state’ authority who come to grace one of our occasions called the Opening Ceremony. We play games, drums, and of course, tarin for march. One of the things that has made me like this organisation is so much is the fact that it helps girls, and women to come together to learn from each other.

This learning is not limited to the classroom learning alone. The organisation is founded on Christianity, and in the church. It helps girls grow spiritually and intentionally about their future in life, their career, and after this life.

When I became the sergeant, I also had the opportunity to influence some girls in my company, and in some camps.
I found out being one’s self was more than being you for you. You could actually influence someone with your lifestyle, personality, or simply by the way you act, talk or relate with people.

This platform has afforded me the opportunity to meet with women of different and admirable calibre, and I keep learning from them. This is the best thing any girl or woman would wish for. To belong to a family that watch out for your wellbeing and growth, and educate you on how life should be lived fully, and satisfactorily by being impactful.

There are ranks here that identify each girl in any of the position she belongs to. I’m proud to be a member of the Girl’ brigade. On Sunday, we had an enrolment service in a new company, and that’s the picture of a few of our members.

Which Christian organisation do you belong to? Would you like to belong to one for humanity and community service?

Would like to invite @hudamalik20, @bela90 and @okere-blessing to participate in this contest.

Thanks for reading through.
