Sharing my general knowledge week 3_Introduction |
---|
Hello friends on steemit, it is another yet but excited week to share our view and knowledge on the most fascinating things around us. So I wish everyone good luck in this contest as I begin to share mine and I hope to read from you all. I appreciate @sahar78 for the initiative to organise this contest.
The first question I have here is boldly written there and it is left for me to answer, but first to be direct I will like to give us a brief definition of what an ocean is..
My knowledge of on this topic is based on what my teacher taught me during geography classes in high school and it was one of my favourite subjects.
An ocean is one of the largest and widest bodies of water which separates the continents of the world. And also, it is a vast continues body of a saltwater which could cover up to 70% of the surface of earth.
Now everyone should note that an ocean is as important to Man as an air, because it provides over a half oxygen we breathe in. Also not only does it serves as a source of our food, it also support with both the international trade and the commerce of our county.
How many oceans are in the world? |
---|
There are five known oceans in the world which are;
1_ Atlantic ocean: This is the second largest ocean which covers approximately about 20% of the earth surface. Also it played the major significant roles in the human history. Talking about this ocean from the ancient precolonial and colonial era, it was and also serve as a trade routes to modern day exploration and discoveries. It's a source of resources for economic growth and development. My teacher said the discoveries like the sea route to india, America etc were made by this exploration on this ocean.
2_Arctic ocean : It is the smallest of them all. Among the world's five oceans basins which is located in the northern most region of the earth, near the north pole. However the deepest point in Arctic water is 18,080 feet but whereas the average depth is 3,240 feet. I learnt this in Geography back in high school.
3_ Indian Ocean: Is also the smallest, youngest and the most complex of the three major oceans. while, it is the third largest of the world's five oceans basins.
4_ Antarctic or southern ocean: It surrounds the Antarctic and also extends to the north and the coast of America and also Australia. This ocean is the newest of the world's five oceans basins.
5_ Pacific ocean: Now this is the largest and also the widest ocean in the basin. Covering about an area of approximately 155.6 million square kilometers and about 60.1 million square. (Source: My geography notebooks)
All of these oceans contributes to both the economy, Agricultural and infrastructural growth and development of the continents our continents. And it also shapes our images and aids to our medication and healthcare.
Which scientist developed the theory of gravity? |
---|
Isaac Newton developed the quantitative theory of gravity in 1687, at the age of 44, positing that two bodies which are force to an element of attraction is proportional to the product of their masses and inversely also proportional to the square of the distance between them.
How many total bones present in the newborn and adult? |
---|
There are 270 _300 bones found in newborn babies. While the adults have around 206 bones. Now these bones of the new born babies are made of cartilage and are flexible which allows for easier delivery and also the growth. With time they tend to grow and develop some of their bones which fuse together resulting to the 206 bone found in adults. I would add that creation is beautiful, I remember bombarding my biology teacher with questions the day we learnt this topic.
I will like to invite @zekanem, @rexzitek and @blessedp to participate in this contest.
