One Picture and One Story Week #49: My Best Friend

My friendship with my best friend is loving and sincere. We are loyal to each other.My name is Eyireabasi
I finished my secondary school in the year 2021, and was awaiting admission.
I was aspiring for microbiology course and with God by my side I got the admission.
So like everyone (aspirant) I was also searching for my coursemates so I can interact with them and get to know them(few if not all),
I came across this beautiful lady on social media through a comment section because they do post drop your course of study and meet you mate naw, Her name I'd Idaraobong Annah Akpan,I sent her friend request and she accepted, we introduced ourselves and where she's living and all that.
We chat but not frequently just once in a while.
We did our screening process by then we weren't close just an "Hi Hi friends" and we became freshers as God would have it.
So days went by, one fateful day I was sent on an errand by my dad and we bombed into each other in the area I lived,so with shocked I asked her what she was doing in my street, she said she's also living here but her house is down the road, we exchange pleasantry and went our separate ways.Throughout Year 1 first semester we weren't that close but we do talk to each other in school, didn't call her my Friend yet but I called her my coursemate.
I believe friendship is earned not a name you give to people anyhow.
But she continues showing me love and showering me with care, I finally saw her as my friend
In the morning when we want to go to school she will come to my house and then we move to school.
Our first, misunderstanding was when we had an 8'O clock class that's GST and I wanted to attend that very class because we've never attended it before, I called her very early in the morning and told her about it and she agreed to come out early. I finished around 7, I waited for her on the road, I called her line she will tell me to wait that she's coming, I called and called,she will give me excuses, I stood on the road till 8, I was so angry at her.
I called the last time and she told me if I couldn't wait again I should go....I was so pissed, I left for school.
When she finally came to school,she made a statement that got me so angry, and out of anger I told her if she wants to go to school she shouldn't come to my house anymore, she should just head to school and I'll do the same.
We didn't chat with each other on social media that weekend, on Sunday after service I messaged and asked her if we are still friends so I could know where I am, she said of course we are, how will we survive without each other
We continue that way and still didn't get to trust her as a friend because of my experiences in my past friendship.
Year 2 second semester when I started staying in the university hostel.
Honestly, she sacrificed a lot for me that period because things were really tough for me then, you know hostel life naw, she will bring food for me from her house, sacrifice her last cash for me to eat,if I am out of cash she will always come through for me, she really did alot that she earned my trust and the word BEST FRIEND
We became closer than we were before,we share things with each other, we don't hide anything from each other, we are like 5&6, anywhere you see me, you will definitely see her and anywhere you see her you must see me.
We have each other's interest at heart and we don't correct each other in public where people are, we do that in private when we are alone, we call a spade a spade when we are alone.
We bring ideas on a thing that gives one another a hard time and definitely we will always have a solution because two heads they say is better than one.
Her happiness is my happiness and my happiness is hers too. She carries my business on her head like it's hers and we do go round the hostel to sell the goods before heading home.
We share a lot of things together.
But we do have some petty misunderstanding in which we won't let that come in between our friendship,
I can remember the day we went to sell my goods as usual in the hostel and unfortunately for me I forgot my key there.
So the next day after school we were supposed to go look for it.
We arrived at the annex gate because we do use the shuttle bus as it is less expensive than normal mini buses, she told me she was tired and weak that she won't be able to follow me down to town campus, I said no problem,So we parted ways,
Next thing I saw a message on my phone that I should come and eat Ekpangkukwo(a native food in my state) all my hope was that her mom prepared it at home.I told her I was coming,
Next she told me she's at the annex campus that someone that bought for her.I was angry because she didn't follow me to look for my keys because she was weak and tired but she had strength to stay and eat Ekpangnkukwo (a native food in my state)from a stranger, I kept quiet reach annex I didn't talk to her, I just walked by myself and she was at my back, I break a bus entered and zoom off,She was surprised that I had the mind to do it because I could see the shock on her face. Of course why wouldn't I zoom off, I just made it look as if she wasn't there as though she had gone home so the Idara that was at my back was an invisible one.
The next day, we met and continued the day without bringing up what happened the previous day, even till today we haven't talked about it.
There are times we do disagree with ourselves but that wouldn't lead to malice keeping because our bond is beyond that.
On some occasions, we'll take ourselves out have fun, spend the little money we have and we go later regret why we spent the money because we had better issues to solve with money but then it's the spice in our friendship.
Sometimes we surprise each other with credit alerts,Sometimes the two of us will be financially incapacitated,Sometimes one person will have and the other won't .
Some days the other will get luck more than the other but in all we don't develop jealousy for each other instead we will genuinely be happy for each other.
If we buy something like snacks we share it among ourselves equally.
We don't believe in multiple close friends because we feel that it doesn't really last as the other will gossip the other in their absence That's why it's just the Two of us.
We defend each other in public.
We are best friends at home and in school, in short anywhere. We behave like sisters and of course we are sisters in the Lord Everyone knows us as friends and we pray to God to strengthen our friendship and not let anything come in between us till we grow old.
