A SEND-OFF PARTY

The graduating pupils of Jubilee Nursery and Primary School had her send-off party at Prince Ibitoye Memorial Hall situated in the school premises. It was the biggest hall in the town. It was donated to the school by children of Prince Ibitoye in memory of their late father who was a great man in his lifetime.

It was indeed a great party. For the first time, the headmaster of the school popularly called "Lord Lugard" because of his way of dressing, wore a native dress. Also, for the first time, Mr. Clement, the headmaster was not carrying any stick with him. He was beaming with smiles. Some pupils danced around him, they knew it was a fun day.

The hall was filled. The school was hosting very important people including the traditional ruler of the ancient town of Kookin. The parents of the graduating pupils were on top of the world because their children had made them proud. The result of their Entrance Examination had just been released and all of them had been admitted to reputable secondary schools in the state. Not only that, more than twenty of them had won scholarships for free secondary school education. No wonder Mr. Clement was smiling throughout the celebration.

After the opening prayer by Pastor Judebof St. Michael Church, Kookin, melodious sounds were sang by tge school choir. The drum set used was donated by the graduating pupils.
In the meantime, prayers were said for the graduating pupils. Many people presented speeches including the traditional ruler of the town. The outhouse senior boy said the vote of thanks and it went this way:

"Your royal highness, Oba Oluwole Oyekan II,
The headmaster of Brilliant Nursery and Primary School,
Our respectable teachers,
Great loving parents,
My colleagues,
All invited guests,
Distinguished ladies and gentlemen.
It is my pleasure to say the vote of thanks on this occasion of our send-off party. My happiness knows no limit and I believe you are as happy as I am.
On behalf of my colleagues, I appreciate all of you for coming to share the happy moment with us. Thanks to our able headmaster, Mr. Clement Akpan. Thanks to all our loving teachers. We appreciate our King for being a lover of education. We thank all of you, traditional chiefs and our parents for your love and care. We are grateful to you all. Above all, a million thanks to God Almighty for everything.
Ladies and gentlemen, thank you all."

After the vote of thanks by the senior boy, everyone clapped for him then the senior girl formally presented the set of drums they donated to the school. The party was rounded off with a closing prayer by Mallam Jubril Doadu of Central Hammadiya Mosque, Kookin.
