In today's episode of One Picture and One Story, the picture I am presenting a great woman. Who devoted herself to the service of people all his life. Whose work was to serve people, whose religion was human service, and whose blood Konika had a strong conviction to serve people. She is none other than Mother Teresa, who is known as an icon of peace all over the world My deepest respect to her through this writing.
This great woman was born in Macedonia on August 26, 1910. Although she was a Catholic monk and missionary, her main religion was self-service. In that religion, there are no castes, including Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Buddhists. In her eyes, the entire human race was one caste. It is human. And its religion is humanity.
This noble woman had a strong inclination to serve people from her childhood. For service of mankind she left home at the age of 18 and joined the sisters of Loreto in Ireland. There she learned the English language to facilitate her work. Being addicted to human service, she came to India from distant Ireland and first started teaching at St. Mary's High School for Girls.
In 1948, she was allowed to leave her convent and live with the poor. By doing this, she tried to serve the poor from among the poor. She did not want to end up just serving, she wanted to realize the plight of the poor and from that stage to serve humanity.
Mother Teresa's main goal was to serve the poor. That's why he created the Missionaries of Charity in 1950. The organization initially consisted of 13 members. Through this charity, he started human services. She used to provide free medical care, as well as food and medicine. She also provided shelter to those who were homeless. she did what is meant by honest human service.
Her initiative became so popular that it received worldwide applause. In recognition of his outstanding humanitarian service, she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979. In 1980, she was awarded the Bharat Ratna by the Government of India. Her work was highly praised by Pope John Paul in 2003. In 2016, Pope Francis canonized her as a saint.
Mother Teresa devoted her entire life to human service and her death also happened in Kolkata, India. Mother Teresa died in 1997. However, the wheel of humanity that has been set in motion has not stopped. Following her ideals, millions of poor people are still receiving the services. Mother Teresa is hailed as the most influential person in humanitarian work of the 20th century. Today I have my deepest respect and love for him.
