The Office Plantain Saga: A Tale of Deceit, Betrayal, and a Second Chance for Revenge

Let’s call this 3 colleagues of mine ”Peter, James and John”

Peter and James was at work and John was newly transferred to this new branch but was running late that day. Peter and James have always been complaining of the false alarm the electric fence energizer has been making at night and the cause of the false alarm is because the plantain leaves from the farm in the next compound is always touching the wire mounted on the electric fence. (If you zoom into the picture, you will see the electric fence wire). So, they took the machete heading straight to the fence and met the beloved ripe plantain that has been like a monument for all to admire.

While Peter was cutting the plantain leaves, James said ”I dare you to cut the innocent plantain down”. Peter now replied, ”if you give me one thousand naira, I’ll cut the plantain down”. James jokingly brought the money to woo him. Before, James would tell him to stop that he was just joking, the plantain has been brought down. Since he was only joking, he refused to give him the money. They decided to share it secretly among themselves since they were the only ones in the compound. During the sharing process, John arrived unexpectedly and met the scene and told them he must per take in the sharing. Peter and James refused to give him, that he was just transferred to the branch and he has no idea how the plantain came about. John was insisting that they give him his own share. Peter now suggested that, instead of them to give John this plantain, he’ll return it to the owner’s of the farm. Everyone agreed. By morning, John woke up and found out that the plantain they kept in the security house is missing and asked Peter where the plantain was. Peter told him James had carried the plantain. John, thinking both of them has conspired against him to share the plantain behind him, called management to report the whole drama but he skipped the part where he said he was going to share the plantain with them for seeing it.

They were summoned by the management to report to the main office. Meanwhile, before the main day, Peter had called James to tell him that John had reported the matter to management and they have been summoned by the management. He told James to quickly go and return the plantain back to the owner of the farm and also told him what to say knowing fully well that James will never come for that meeting because of his school exams and he will be called on phone. If only he knew Peter was trying to play a fast one on him. The day of the meeting had reached between the management and the security operatives. Two was present and one was absent. The fact that he was absent was already making the manager angry because he didn’t take permission. John said his own truth and Peter said his own side of the story and also included the part that John failed to mention that he wanted to take part in the stolen plantain. John couldn’t deny it. Then Peter now framed James up by saying it was James who cut it down from the tree and also infuriated the anger of the management by reporting all the bad things James have been doing like a sort of cover up from the main reasons they were called for. John couldn’t talk on behalf of James because he wasn’t there from the beginning. He was just transferred there recently.

The manager decided they will cut half of their salary. The manager now called James, instead of him to defend himself by saying what happened, he was now talking in line with what Peter had told him the previous day before the meeting, unknown to James that he was falling in line with the lies, that Peter had already said against him in the office. The manager also asked him about other stuff that only Peter will know and was angry that he has been leaving his security duty for school all this while without even taking permission from the relevant authorities. He was sacked right at that moment. Later that evening, James came to carry his stuff from the office and met John. As at that time, Peter was not around, he had gone for his usual routine patrol. James told John the outcome of the meeting that he has been sacked for plantain that he later returned. John now told him everything that happened in the meeting. James was so mad that he has been set up that he wasn’t the one who cut the plantain but it was already too late to defend himself because the manager had already taken his decision and has closed work for the day. James now made up his mind that before he leaves the company he was going to inflict injury on Peter. Peter came back from his patrol and saw James. Peter knew something was up. Immediately, James confronted Peter and asked him right in front of John what he told the manager. Peter was just beating around the bush. James couldn’t hold his anger any longer, he blew Peter on the lips and injured him. Peter broke an empty bottle to chase after James. James ran to the security house to carry the machete that they use to cut the plantain to defend himself. In the end both of them injured themselves, it took the police men around the premises to shoot their gun in the air to stop the fight. Peter was lucky that work had close , else they would have sacked him as well for fighting but it ended among the security operatives alone.

After all this drama that has happened, you won’t believe that 2 bunch of plantains has started growing out again in our office premises, looking for blood it will take and who it will sack!!!

I have already covered myself with the blood of Jesus, i won’t fall for such temptation..😂😂😂😂
