SEC-S14 /W3|"My Achievements In 2023

It’s that time of the year, where we sit down and reflect on our year to learn from our mistakes, to celebrate on our achievements, set a new goal for the year 2024.

Before I go into that, I’ll love to invite @diary-of-ima, @bossj23 and @eurogee to be part of this contest.

I know a lot of people around 2022, had goals set in place to achieve in the early part of 2023 but never put into consideration the challenges they might face while trying to achieve those goals. I happened to make those mistakes but in the end, I achieved some goals and I am happy about that

I will be listing out few of them I achieved:

• Data analysis by AQ skills

Around 2020, during the Covid 19 era. The need of getting a digital skill was so high, so I thought of getting one around that period. Among all the noise of different digital skills, the one I could filter out was data analysis. I hesitated to pay for online training because of the plenty online scam until 2022, when someone directed me to AQ SKILLS and said they were legit people. That was when I finally gave it a try and they came through to their words. The lectures was amazing. I knew a lot of things I never knew on Microsoft Excel. I was supposed to pay to continue further in the program but the amount to learn everything that concerns data analysis was really expensive. That was how I stumbled upon “data entry academy”.

• Data entry analysis

Data entry was never part of the plan or goal to achieve. I will say is a mistake on my part. When “AQ SKILL” demanded a high amount of money to move from basic to advanced and then professional before I could learn everything about data analysis. I had to forget about them after learning the basics, to go for something affordable. That was how I found mrs Chioma ifeanyi-Eze, a brilliant accountant on Facebook. So, when she was pitching her “data entry course” to her followers, I thought it was data analysis and the amount she called made me quickly paid for the course because I thought I was paying from basic to professional. This time, I didn’t need much convincing to pay my money. I had know idea that data entry was totally different data analysis. It was during the first day to the online course, that she showed us her scheme of work, I realized that I’ve been so foolish while trying to play smart. The deed has already been done, no refunds. I had to learn the course. It was really nice because I learnt a lot about invoicing, taking inventory, tracking expenses and petty cash book, Google spreadsheets and a whole lot of other cool stuff about accounting.

• Got a job as an stock/inventory officer.

I told you guys earlier that the data entry I learnt was by mistake. I thought it was data analysis. I’d no idea, it was a blessing in disguise. A friend called me that he has a job for me and if I know anything about inventory. I accepted, thanks to the data entry course, I learnt. I became the supervisor and inventory officer at Eydra lounge and wine bar. But the dream was short lived because they dropped few of us that came after our president declared the removal of fuel subsidies. Everything in Nigeria skyrocketed and they couldn’t afford to keep some of us that were the new employees.

• Crane operator

After I was laid off , another job offer came up this time in a construction company. Too bad for me, they needed only skilled workers. I didn’t want to go as helper and that was how I found myself learning crane, it was never part of the goal this year but it was out of necessity I’d to learn how to operate crane. Too bad, I didn’t get the job because when I was done learning, the vacant space for the job had already been taken. That was how I became a crane operator, hoping that “preparation meets opportunity next time”.

Steemit around 2017 was way harder and difficult getting upvotes, so, coming back to Steemit wasn’t part of my plan. I didn’t even see it coming at all. I got another boring job and out of boredom, I decided to visit Steemit again around October and was surprised of the drastic changes that has been made. In fact, since I came back I’ve not heard of whale war..😊😊

Thanks to @bossj23 mentorship group that help out significantly. I’ve tried to drag some of my old colleagues like my former boss @eurogee, @smyle and @maxiemoses-eu back by telling them a lot have changed and is a bit easier now but I guess the passion for writing isn’t there as it used to be before. They are more into crypto this days.

So, I can’t really say I had any achievements, it was along the line I started setting targets for my self to get to 1000 steem power before the year run out but from what I’m seeing, even if I convert my “steem dollar”, I won’t still achieve that goal notwithstanding, I can’t wait till December 31st to power up my sbd and steem and see if I get close to 1000sp.

But no doubt steemit introduced me to great minds like @bossj23, @weisser-rabe, @emma01, and @goodybest. Is a big achievement for me. They made things easier for me here.

The several competitions I also won as well, were some of my achievements I had on Steemit and it was really encouraging for me and has made me consistent this year.

• This time, part of the goals I planned to achieve is by making myself employable by improving on my soft skills especially on data analysis. I plan to go beyond the basic knowledge and move to learning “power bi, python and other stuffs related to data analysis.

• owning a laptop will go a long way and will be really beneficial to me. So, laptop is now one of the top gadget I’ve to get at any cost. Early this year, some courses I couldn’t master well, was because of lack of laptop. So, is now a necessity for me next year to top my tech skills.

• My second plan is getting a remote job. I’ve always loved the joy of working from the comfort of your home. No one to scream and stress your life, people around see you pressing your laptop or phone without the slightest clue of what you’re doing. I just love the benefits of working from home.Your job is just to deliver on your assignment given to you.

• Learn to improve on my writing skills. Since I’m now planning to stay on Steemit for a very long time. Who knows, if I become so good at it, I may give blogging a shot or maybe try out content creation. You never can tell, where this writing skills might be of benefit to me in the future other than steemit.

Now that I plan to be more consistent, my plan for steemit next year is to at least get about 7000 steem power. It may kinda look impossible but I believe that if I improve on my writing skills, I may even go beyond that. Let’s just keep our fingers cross this time and with this contest hosted by @bossj23 on growing your steem, it will help also help me achieve that.

Another thing I thought of is working with steemit, as a curator. I think that way I will learn how to write a nice post that meets the criteria of steemit standards and also teach others on how to write steemit curated posts.

Another plans I intend to achieve next year is to bring in more writers to steemit. I have some few friends on Facebook that are good content writers and bloggers. I’ve managed to bring @diary-of-ima and so far she’s been doing well just occupied with school exams that’s why she haven’t been to consistent.

As individuals, we should always have it in mind that whenever you set goals, there’s always a challenge that may want to interrupt the smooth transition. Is important we set up S.W.O.T ANALYSIS, that will be like a guide to achieve those desired goals.
