Wish you all a nice week ahead. As the first post for the week's engagement challenge, I'm happy to select this beautiful topic about the short story. I will share my own story which is imaginary. So I invite all of you to read and enjoy my story.
The Lottery
In a small village, there lived a very poor family of 5 members, a father, a mother, two sisters, and a brother. The father had a small tea shop and the mother went for cooking in rich families. All three children were schooling. They went to a small school in the village.
Even though they were so poor they lived happily. The children were schooling and did their studies really well. The mother and father also led a peaceful family life despite the economy of the family.
One day a lottery seller came to the father's shop and then the father bought two tickets. In this way, the father used to buy two lottery tickets every day. A few months passed in the same way but he didn't win any lottery. Every evening the father used to watch the lottery results. One day he was surprised to see that he has won the lottery. The full amount was LKR 100,000,000. It was a really big amount. The father was very surprised and the family was very happy.
They soon bought a new big house and the three children were enrolled in a highly reputed private university. The rest of the money was deposited in a bank and they got a good monthly interest for their living from that amount. They also bought 2 cars. Now they are living in a very luxurious way.
The days went on in the same way. The family went on trips together and the three children studied well and went to three different countries after being graduated as Engineers. The father and the mother didn't want to leave the country as they wanted to stay in their country.
In that very big house with two cars only the two parents were there with a maid for the housework. They were so lonely now and feel so sad. The father and the mother realized how happy they were when they lived in that small shanty with no money but all members were together with happiness.
The father and mother were sitting on a bench in the garden and said"Money is not everything".

Hello @nadeesew, you create a beautiful story. The moral of the tale teaches us not to gather money but instead live in happily with less money as a family.
@nadeesew, Your story reminded me of a television program that I saw some time ago, where they talked about and investigated the lives of people who had won the lottery in the United States.
Most of them with that money made and undid liquor, luxuries and a lot of fun, they also had problems.
Because of the large amount of money, they even have problems with their relatives.
Most of them did not know how to manage money. They also went bankrupt again and were left without friends and family.
Money is a blessing for some, the opposite for others.
Mr and Mrs alone in their huge house missing the times where they were poor but happy.
Money is necessary but it certainly does not buy happiness

Not only that money is not everything, but the way to earn money; since the best way is through our own effort and not to be throwing our life or our future to chance.
When they lived with so many limitations they had the most wonderful thing you can have as it is Love, and having a lot of money people materialize and forget that the most important thing is the people and our family.

You have written in form of a story but the fact is that's the truth of the day, lottery or no lottery. The present family system has done that to nuclear family system and parents that they live alone in the end when they need someone the most. A nice story with a great ending.
There's some truth in your story. I know people who have money but yet,they aren't happy. The story is interesting and I wished it didn't end, and you explained everything in details.
