In this meeting we will discuss the tradition of eating ranub in Acehnese culture which is a past culture. If we look at the past we have a tradition of "eating ranub" or "betelting ranup". The tradition of eating ranup already existed at a time when 500 years ago before masehi and applies to several regions in Southeast Asia, including our country, namely Indonesia. This tradition is very liked by the youth, especially among the elderly, eating ranub which has betel nut, gambier and a little lime in it.

Ranub or in Indonesian is also known as betel, which is a type of plant that grows through the stem and its children grow from the stem that propagates on the ground. For the people of Aceh, this ranub has a lot of high value contained in it. In the past, ranub was always associated with the spirit of the Malay heroism. A piece of ranub meets a vein that is eaten with areca nut, lime and gambier that can make their souls rise and the spirit of their heroes rises to fight.

In the past this ranub became an important role for customs in Aceh, not only for consumption, but also used in traditional ceremonies in Aceh. And now this ranup has become a custom if there are official events such as weddings, circumcision celebrations, and even funerals, ranub seems to be a mandatory food or delivery for the people of Aceh.

Now Ranup has become Aceh's traditional framework. Starting from official events such as: post-delivery, proposal processions, weddings, circumcision celebrations, to funerals, and others, Ranub is one of the mandatory menus for the custom served. Ranub is also one of the media in the ceremony to escort a man to see a woman for the first time or in other words to marry a woman, Ranub has become a symbol of formality that combines customs and culture in the interactions of the Acehnese people until now.

This is because Ranub is an Acehnese culture which has various meanings and signs such as; a sign of glory, a calm in uniting opinions in a deliberation, and a liaison with each other and also an inauguration event. Ranub can also be symbolized by humility and love, Pinang symbolizes kindness and honesty and has a high degree, Gambir symbolizes determination, Kapur symbolizes sincerity. Meanwhile, Bate Ranup which is the container symbolizes the beauty of morality.

Batee Ranup can also be called a container which is a unit that symbolizes the traditional nature of Aceh. So nowadays, this modification of ranub packaging really needs to be considered, how Acehnese children are familiar with their culture and do not lose the existing Acehnese customs from eating ranub to now consuming drugs and foreign products for modern imaging.

This ranup is a lifestyle for us, the people of Aceh, to be a source of pride for us, the people of Aceh, to continue to develop Ranup, and to be able to have a positive impact on other countries that this Acehnese custom is very good.
