Rahul was a very cute ten year old child. Everyone loved him very much but he had a very bad habit that he was very afraid of darkness. Due to this fear, he could neither stay awake till late at night to study nor go out of the room without holding his mother's hand. Because of this everyone in his house was very upset. Throughout the day he used to have a lot of fun and jump around, but as soon as it was night, when the lights were switched off, he would start trembling.

The reason for his fear was his aunt who used to tell him various imaginary scary stories to put him to sleep early in his childhood. In the beginning, even Rahul enjoyed listening to these strange stories, but gradually fear started creeping into his mind and now he was not ready to believe even his aunt's words that ghosts do not come in the dark because all these rubbish things doesn't happen. Now poor aunt was also very sad that it was because of her that Rahul had become so timid.

Many days passed like this and instead of decreasing, Rahul's fear kept increasing. One night it was raining heavily and everyone in the house had to go to a wedding. Only Rahul was at home with aunt and eating food. Suddenly the lights went off with a flash of lightning. Poor Rahul dropped the spoon out of fear. Seeing this his aunt said very lovingly – “Don't be afraid at all. I'll just bring the candle."

And saying this, as she moved forward groping with her hands in the darkness, she slipped and fell due to water on the ground. Before she could recover, her head hit the sharp corner of the table and blood started flowing from her forehead. Aunty started calling Rahul crying loudly. Rahul, who till now was sitting like a stone statue out of fear in the dark, ran to aunty. When the lightning flashed, he saw that aunty was bleeding profusely from her forehead.

He ran at the speed of the wind to call the doctor uncle who lived in front of the house. He was slipping every now and then in the rain, but only his aunt's bloody forehead was visible before his eyes. In the dark, when lightning was thundering intermittently and dogs were barking, sweat would bead on his forehead due to fear. But he kept running without stopping and crossed the street in front and reached Doctor Uncle's place.

As soon as Doctor Uncle heard him, he immediately took his first aid box and necessary medicines and went with him. By the time both of them reached home, the lights had come on and aunty was lying on the ground groaning in pain. Doctor uncle supported her and made her lie down on the bed and immediately wiped the blood flowing from her forehead and bandaged her.

By then all the family members had also returned from the wedding. Seeing the expressions of panic and worry in everyone's eyes, Doctor Uncle smiled and said – “In a house where there is a courageous and intelligent child like Rahul, there is no need for anyone to worry. See, how much courage and bravery with, he handled everything.”

And saying this, Doctor Uncle patted his back very lovingly.
After hearing all this, his mother hugged Rahul and started crying with happiness. From that day Rahul became everyone's hero. And yes, aunty resolved in her mind that now she would never tell false and scary stories to any child.
