"Contest - "FREEDOM" 🕊️✌️

Hello everyone, one of the core struggle of man kind is to be free from other even from their own selves as well but how and when this freedom comes is what we don't know, somehow we tend to keep believing it will happen soonest, but what happens if it doesn't and we still remain a slave to what or who we see as our masters? I am more grateful to @aaliarubab for putting up this contest to answer such an antagonizing question, join me as I share with you my own view of Freedom.

Personally, the concept of freedom is resonates being free from external forces, it could be being free from prison, from a tiring job or even a toxic relationship. Freedom is what gives us sense of independence whenever we stand out, it could be a step from living off someone else resources and creating our path in life.

Freedom also goes as far as being a state which we are absolutely free from ourselves, it could be being free from mental slavery or addiction. Anytime we breakout from acts that puts us under slavery is the day we choose to be free.

Freedom is a fundamental human right as far as there is an effective law enforcing and protecting it. Every citizen of a defined and independent country has the right to live his or her life however they feel is best for them without as long as it doesn't breach the law guiding against it.

As a citizen of an independent state, we are entitled to freedom of movement, freedom of life, freedom of worship, freedom of celebration and freedom to work etc. This is only achievable In country that respects her citizens and takes the lives of the citizens as top priority.

Nigeria my home country is enjoying freedom from other external factors since the inception of our independence in 1965, the country has been out of the hands of our colonial masters (The Great Britain). Also, being an independent state, decisions are made without the interference of external forces and this is what I like about this.

However, internally, the citizens to some extent are not enjoying these freedom, for example the right to freedom of speech is denied to some extent by those in powers, no one dare stand up against them or you will be dealt with or some times sent to jail. This is our fate and it is really a sad reality for citizens, a clear example was the incident of 20/10/2020 where innocent masses were killed by the arm forces because they protested against bad government even with their placards.

Nigeria gained her independence since 1st October, 1965, the relentless fight of our fallen heroes in gaining the country's freedom from our Colonial Masters (The Great Britain). Our leaders such as Awolowo were the main engine behind this freedom and we owe them our respect till a day after eternity for giving us this safe space to live without living under anyone.

From gaining independent, Nigeria became a democratic country in a bid to foster right to vote and be voted for, this is when the citizens started electing the leaders of their choice to every political seat through election but sadly today, it has gone south as it revolves round caucus, we are only hoping for a reformed Nigeria.
