Ven Pongal is one of the most popular dishes in South India. It is a traditional dish consisting of rice and lentils cooked together with spices. It is usually served for breakfast and also as part of a meal during festivals or special occasions.
The preparation of Ven Pongal involves cooking the rice and lentils with spices such as cumin, pepper, coriander, and ginger. The cooked rice and lentils are then mixed with ghee and garnished with cashew nuts, raisins, and curry leaves.This dish is typically accompanied by sambar and chutney.But today I prepared kara chutney instead of sambar and coconut chutney. Its combination also gives it a good taste.
Ven pongal is a nutritious dish that is low in fat and contains plenty of protein, minerals, and vitamins. The protein content in Ven Pongal is higher than most other grains, making it an excellent source of nutrition.It also contains a lot of iron, magnesium, and zinc.
In addition, the spices used to prepare Ven Pongal are known to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.Ven pongal is a simple and delicious dish that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. Lunch: Drumstick with Mango Combination Sambar; Potato with Peas Combination Dry Fry |

If you are looking for a delicious and nutritious lunch option, then look no further! Drumstick with mango combination sambar and potato with peas combination dry fry is the perfect meal for you. Not only is it easy to prepare, but it is also packed with nutrition and flavour.
The first step in preparing this dish is to make the sambar. To begin, heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, curry leaves, chopped onion, and green chillies. Saute until the onions are golden brown. Then add chopped tomatoes, drumsticks, and mango, along with cooked toor dal. Cook for a few minutes, and then add the sambar powder and mix well.Finally, add water and let the mixture simmer for a few minutes. Once the sambar is done, set it aside.
The next step is to prepare the potato and pea combination for dry frying. Start by heating oil in a pan and adding mustard seeds and curry leaves. Then add the chopped onion, green chilli, chopped tomatoes, boiled and smashed potatoes with boiled peas, and salt. Saute for a few minutes, and then add the chilli powder and coriander powder. Cook for a few more minutes until the vegetables are cooked through.
This delicious meal is rich in protein and fibre and is an excellent source of vitamin C. It is also a great way to get your daily dose of antioxidants. Serve this meal with hot steamed rice or chapati for a complete, nutritious lunch.
For preparing sambar and poriyal, we need at least Rs 150 for the needs of 3 people. It's around 9.22 STEEM.
Dinner: Idli with Hyacinth Bean Masala Gravy |

The main ingredients in this dish are idli, which are small, round, steamed cakes made from rice and lentils, and hyacinth bean masala gravy, which is a flavorful blend of spices and vegetables. This dish is usually served with ghee.
The Hyacinth Bean is a type of legume that is high in protein and fibre and low in fat and carbohydrates. It is a great source of essential vitamins and minerals, including iron, zinc, magnesium, and vitamin B6. It also contains high levels of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds, making it a great addition to any diet.
To make idli with Hyacinth Bean Masala Gravy, you will first need to prepare the Hyacinth Bean Masala Gravy. This is usually made by simmering a mixture of onions, garlic, ginger, and spices in oil until the onions are soft. Then, the hyacinth bean with potato is added and cooked until it is tender. The preparation took some time, but it was a very tasty choice. because this hyacinth bean is not available through out the year. Only from December to February's end do we get them; after that, we don't. At the same time, removing the outer layer of seed took a huge amount of time. After handling all these ingredients, I prepare this recipe for my family's needs.
Once the gravy is ready, it is time to prepare the idlis. The traditional way to make idli involves mixing ground rice and lentils with water, salt, and a special ingredient known as poha, which is a type of flattened rice. This mixture is then steamed in idli moulds until it is cooked through.
Once the idli is cooked, it can be served with the delicious Hyacinth Bean Masala gravy. The flavour of the gravy is enhanced by adding coconut, cilantro, and other spices if desired. Both combinations give the dish an amazing taste.
For preparing this recipe, we need at least Rs 120 for the needs of 3 people. It's around 7.38 STEEM.
In our family, we have three ladies because I am living in combined family: me, my mother-in-law, and my co-sister. So we will all share our work. Like one person chops vegetables, another prepares the needed ingredients, and one person starts preparing the dish. By joining and sharing our work, we prepare our recipes.
