The leap year thing is a bit complicated to understand, because it is known that it happens every 4 years and so on. And what I know is that for the 4 years in each 1 year there are 6 hours left over (6 x 4= 24) so what they do is add those hours that become a day the following year so there is no gap in the calendar.
