"Afcon: My View, Myself Wk13"

Hello there, my fellow steemit friends. Happy new week to you all. In my article today I will be writing about The African Cup Of Nation.
What Do I Understand by the word AFCON? |

AFCON is an acronym whose meaning is African Cup Of Nation. This cup was established by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and it was first held in the year 1957. Since then, it has been held every two years. The first tournament that was held in 1957 had only 3 countries participating. This country were Egypt, Ethiopia and Sundan. Since then the tournament has increased greatly. The number of participating countries increased to 16 countries in 1998. In 2017, countries were increased from 16 countries to 24 countries. The format changed as four countries will be fixed in six groups.
Egypt is the most successive nation in the cup's history, winning it seven times with Cameroon winning five times and Ghana winning four times.

I will love to talk about two outstanding countries that participated in the last tournament. They are Cape Verde and Dr Congo. I was surprised when I saw the performance of this two countries.

Cape Verde is an island located in the mid Atlantic ocean off the west coast of Africa. I don't really hear much about them in football but their performance in this last AFCON was outstanding. They were undefeated in their group winning Ghana and Mozambique and playing a draw with Egypt. They were knocked out in the quarter final by South Africa through penalty shootout.

Another outstanding county was Dr Congo. This is another underrated country. Their performance was excellent from the group stage to the semi final. They finished fourth in the 2023/2024 AFCON tournament.

It has been confirmed that Morocco will be hosting the 2025 AFCON. Morocco is located in North Africa. They comprise if Arab, African and Europe culture. They have good stadiums in the country. Morocco is ranked no. 1 in Africa Football after the finished fourth in the 2022 world cup.
My Thoughts On Nigeria Not Winning The AFCON |

Nigeria tried in this 2023/2024 AFCON tournament. They finished 2nd after loosing 2-1 to Ivory Coast in the final. Currently Nigeria is ranked 3rd in African football and 28th in the lastest FIFA ranking. This is due to their performance in this last AFCON.
I don't have much to say concerning Nigeria not winning the AFCON. They tried a lot. I did not expect the will reach the final. We took the lead in the first half and in the second half we were not able to secure our winning. The players tried. Likes of Victor Osimhen, William Trust Ekong, Moses Simon, Calvin Bassey, etc were outstanding. NEXT YEAR WE GO AGAIN.

When the Nigeria team lose in the afcon finals, I told my phone this is one of the main reason why football makes most sense, you wouldn't have lose if we have put more efforts and explain the match, one thing that pains me most is that the Nigerian team relented effort, maybe they thought that Ivory Coast will lose for them, even though we loss. Even though the second place is a good position, I wasn't too happy because we didn't take the cup. Thank you for inviting me to this contest I'll drop my entry soon.
