SEC S7w1 my favorite holiday is the new year festival.
Hi world, I feel very comfortable because I have a space in some people's lives to share my life with them. Thanks to the steemit team for their efforts towards seeing the growth of this platform and also for the initiative of engagement challenge for steemian to share on several topics from different community and I am here to share in this amazing community and a special thanks goes to them too so, keep reading down friends as I share on my favorite festival.
In my part of the world, there are Muslims, Christians, and pagans so the most festival that brings us together is the new year festival. We observe festivity mostly towards the end of the year such as the Christmas celebration 25th December and also the new year celebration as well and at this very time, family members come home for the celebration to have a unique time with family and friends. The new celebration is my best and favorite holiday or festival because a lot of things happen on the day of the festival.
The preparations you made before the festival
Truly speaking, seeing another beautiful and brand-new year is a thing to be grateful for. A lot of people have died but I live to see another year, I'm happy. For that reason, I make all the necessary preparation that would make that day looks very special and unique. My preparations for the next new year start in January, I make contributions for that and at the end of the year, whatever amount I gather, I buy things, gifts, and other things to share for family and friends.
On the 31st of the just concluded year which is new year's eve, I cook meat for the family and fry against the new year which is the next day. While frying or cooking the meat, people come over to have a taste and I feel happy because it's my wish to have people eat what I cook especially when it's for the new year celebration.
This is our traditional food, and this food is cooked for the festivity, my people gather to dance together and the traditional food will be shared with everyone in little quantities.
How do I celebrate these festivities?
Wonderful! I bake the cake, and fortunate for me, I am a baker. I cook traditional food which is called epiekpen, I make chin chin, Corn milk and also meat. I have all of these things in my house on new year's day for any visitor that comes around. Again, I visit my neighbors too and also send text messages and gifts to friends and family.
On that day of the festival, a lot of people come out to celebrate and at that time, traditional dancers come out to dance.The picture above, shows my selfie as the traditional dancer's display. The whole community comes out to celebrate by dancing and eating traditional food and making good wishes to one another.
