1 Picture 1 Story | Celebrating West Aftican Social Activities (WASA)
When we take pictures of events happening around us, it makes it more memorable because each time we look at those pictures, we will remember the joyful moments we experienced in the event.
Pictures are meant for memories, and each time we take a picture, they must certainly be a story behind it, and I am happy to share mine with you.
Thanks to @suboohi for coming up with this wonderful contest idea
It's a culture of the military of Nigeria to celebrate such events once in a year all over the country.
In all military barracks, all the military personnel's make arrangements for activities to take place like, dancing, thorg of War, comedy's and other social activities to make it enjoyable and memorable.
People will be invited from neighbouring communities to witness such events, and this is what the picture above is all about.
This year's celebration came urgently as we didn't have enough time to prepare well for this famous event, our commanding officer informed the entire barracks that they will be a WASA on the 27th of January which was this Saturday that just passed, so we had no option than to prepare our selves as fast as we can to embrace this annual ceremony.
Unlike before many ethnic groups will be given time to showcase their traditions, but this time around as it came urgent it was only the 3 main ethnic groups in Nigeria, consisting of the Yoruba, Hausa and Igbo that were given opportunity to perform on stage.
Myself I hardly partake in social activities, but this event holds a special place in my heart and I just can't miss it, even if you're angry once you attend this event you will he very happy and excited becaus they are many fun activities.
Children were the most populated people in this event because they wanted to enjoy themselves and have much fun. Some children are their only opportunity to have fun because their parents were always strict on them.
As soon as they heard that the annual event in our barracks would be commemorated, they were very happy to witness it.
This image above is the picture of the igbos in our barracks dancing and showcasing their talents, I am a proud Igbo man, so I quickly used my mobile phone to capture them while they were performing
The event begind and all ethnic groups perform well. Honestly, I wish you were present to witness this joyful event.
Money was spread to the best dancers and also best performers, talents were displayed, and I really felt my eyes that day.
This annual ceremony in our barracks brings people closer to each other as we enjoy joyful times with ourselves.
Like is all about happiness, so attending this event every year always brings good luck to our barracks and development.
Sometimes, when we invite people from different places and communities and they enter into our barracks and see any area that needs development or upgrading, they will contribute money to make sure that issue is fixed.
I am using this opportunity to invite @josepha, @pandora2010, @kuzboy and @dave-hanny to join me and participate in this interesting contest
