"One Picture One Story/ Week #42"
ANIMAL KINGDOM
I will be sharing a bed time story that you can easily tell your kids while they sleep off.
Once upon a time in the forest there were different animals living together. They all had their portion of land where they plant their crops and everyone was always okay with what they harvested until some animals started to want more for themselves.
This led to some animals stealing from others. So one night the king of the forest, that is; the Lion having heard of the missing crops called a meeting.
All animals were in attendance except the tortoise. The king ordered the elephant to take attendance of all animals that were present.
On the process, the elephant discovered that the cat was absent. When the information got to the lion, he became enraged with anger and he said; "How dare he disobey his king, guards! get me the cat, dead or alive. No one can disobey me in this jungle".
The guards left to search for the cat. The lion just sat quietly and observed every other animals and asked. "Who could be taking other animal's crops in this kingdom?" Nobody said anything.
After a short while, the guards found the cat and brought him before the king. The king asked the cat why he didn't come out for the meeting and the cat said he was not aware. The king decided to forgive him.
The king warned that nobody should take anything form another animal's farm without the owner's approval and dismissed the meeting without revealing his pans.
How The King Caught The Thief
The king drafted a plan with the guards to station two animals secretly on everyone's land to keep watch.
One night, one of the guards noticed some movement in the land he was watching. He quietly monitored the movement and followed the sound to it's destination which was tortoise' house.
He went and reported everything to the king. The next morning, the king summoned the elders and invited the tortoise.
On the tortoise' arrival, he noticed the elders and other members of the land were already seated.
The king asked the tortoise; "did you take anything in any land that does not belong to you?".
The tortoise answered; "My king, how can I? I'm a very wise animal and I respect myself too".
The lion ordered everyone to the tortoise' house and asked the guards to search the house. The guards searched and brought out a lot of things that did not belong to the tortoise.
The tortoise had been the one stealing from people. The king banished the tortoise and warned that nobody should offer him any kind of help.
MORAL LESSON OF THIS STORY
The following are morals learnt from the story.
- It is important to obey our leaders.
- It is good to be satisfied with what we have.
- We will be punished for our wrong deeds.
- It's better to tell the truth and seek forgiveness.
I think if the tortoise had confessed and ask for forgiveness and also promise to change, the king would have forgiven him.
