"One Picture And One Story Week#47"

Hello dear friends. Its my privilege to participate in this contest. I love animal stories because my late father used to tell me a lot of animal related stories that have moral lessons. I'll be sharing one of those stories with you.

Once upon a time, in summer season. Two groups of insects were going about their different activities.

One group were grasshoppers and the other were ants 🐜. Some were playing together and some were gathering food in preparation for winter.

One grasshopper was busy chairing the play team forgetting about winter. An ant notice that the grasshopper was busy playing. The ant was hurrying to the anthill with a kernel of corn.

After dropping his kernel of corn he went back to search another food but the grasshopper invited him saying: "Come and play with us". The ant looked at the grasshopper, shook his tiny head and replied, "I can't play, I have to gather food and save it for winter. You should also gather and store food too. Soon it will be winter and food will be scarce".

However, the grasshopper would not listen to his advice and went back to play. The ant passed and continued his hunt. The ant family saved enough food that will last them till the next summer season.
On the other hand the grasshopper family barely saved enough food that will last them through the winter season.

Days passed and summer season was over, the weather started changing. The grasshoppers after noticing the weather intensified their hunt for food but it was already late. They were only able to save just a little amount of food.

One morning, the grasshopper woke up to find everything covered with snow. The two group of insects went back to their dwelling place.

After sometimes, the grasshopper family ran out of food. He waited for the sun to come out but it's not possible to have a shinning sun that will melt all the winter snow. They felt hungry. So they went to look for food shivering in the cold. They search for a while and realised that there was no enough food anywhere. They barely found food that will sustain them for the winter.

They went back and on their way they saw the little ant and her family. All of them were happily eating the food which they had kept during summer. Then the grasshopper knew that he caused their predicament and regretted not not saving.

From thence, he promised himself never to play again during summer when he is supposed to be saving for rainy days.

Conclusion

Applying this story to our lives, it is better to prepare for rainy days. We need to know when to play and when to work. Most importantly, we need to save. We cannot eat everything we make per time. We should save for difficult days.
