We capture many pictures constantly. However, we often delete some pictures shortly after taking them, while others remain in our memory forever, never to be forgotten. Today, I will share some interesting events with you about a particular picture.

A few days ago, I visited the Dipshikha METI School. After arriving, we wandered around for a while and then met one of the directors there. We chatted with him for a long time and shared stories. Through the conversation, we learned many interesting facts about this institution.

Dipshikha METI School is situated in Rudrapur village of Mongalpur Union, within the Biral Upazila of Dinajpur. It is notable for its unique construction using earth and bamboo, earning the Aga Khan Architecture Award in 2007.

Although Rudrapur is a remote village in Bangladesh, it has gained both national and international recognition due to this school. Visitors come to see METI School's distinctive architecture. Ten years ago, the village had no educational institution, forcing children to walk 4-5 kilometers to schools in neighboring villages. To alleviate this and provide education, the volunteer organization 'Dipshikha' founded METI School on September 1, 1999, in Rudrapur.

The school offers lessons in dance, music, acting, painting, group discussions, conversational English, and various handicrafts. It currently educates students from nursery to tenth grade. METI stands for Modern Education and Training Institute.

METI focuses on overall development using affordable, locally available materials. Its goals include providing joyful education, fostering a positive attitude towards learning, promoting logical thinking, and encouraging group learning.

	A school building, which is made with soil & bamboo.

Construction materials included soil, straw, sand, bamboo, rope, wood, tin, rods, bricks, and cement. The walls, made of soil and straw, are resistant to cracking and facilitate rainwater runoff. A moisture barrier was applied at the base to protect against dampness. The walls were smoothly finished with earth and sand plaster, and the floors were made water-resistant with palm oil and soap paste. The exterior remains unplastered, showcasing the natural materials.

The ceiling of the ground floor, made with bamboo and covered with mud, is nine feet high, while the first floor ceiling, made with bamboo and wood and topped with tin, is ten feet high. Bricks were used only for the foundation.

The METI School was constructed by a team of 10 students from Germany and Austria and 19 specially trained local workers. In 2007, METI School was one of 14 architectural works worldwide to receive the Aga Khan Award for Architecture.

We were astonished to hear all these details .We wouldn't have known so much about the institution if we hadn't met him. The memories of exploring this place will stay in my mind forever.
