Weekly Contest - Best Diary Game |Reception of my Cousin 28-4-2023

I happened to attend the reception of my cousin a few weeks back. I thought to write a diary on it, but procrastination was holding me back. Everyday i was saying today I'll write it, whole day used to pass useless followed by the night, when i would finally say:

Tomorrow will be my day.
And the cycle continued.
Now finally I'm writing this.

I have learnt one thing from my procrastination is that planning your days doesn't work for everyone. It actually stresses out some people like me.

So, whenever a thought of writing comes in your mind, immediately act upon it, wake up for it right away(as the 5 second rule by Mel Robbin suggests).

Anyhow, back to the reception day. My cousin is married and moved to another city(Faisalabad). Therefore, we had to leave for it early than the usual time. The temperature on that day was normal atleast in the house. Few of the women (excluding me) got ready from a beautician. We had brought her in the home for our convenience.

We all got ready on time and sat in the cars (only then i knew temperature is not that normal). Everything was going smooth and we were wondering how come? Desi weddings are not supposed to be smooth without any dispute.

While sitting in the cars we realised that we're short of two seats. Few cars had left early, where two people could adjust easily. Now the situation was these men are standing in the middle of the street getting angry over the cars(that had left).

Two of my cousins refused to go in anger and weren't listening to figure out a solution.

So we left, i was sitting with my cousin on one side and my cousin's wife(the one who refused to go) on another side.

She was so angry for her husband that she didn't speak and let us speak the whole journey.

The journey was so boring, nauseatic, and lethargic that i was wishing to jump out of the car. Reason was the negative energy we were getting from her.

Finally, the venue came and i thanked Allah, and decided not to sit with her again on our way back to home.

The venue was very nice and spacious that we forgot out fatigue immediately.

Groom's side welcomed us warmly and we sat on our tables. The guests were arriving, we remained on our seats and i started taking pictures of the venue to kill the time.

Bride was not arrived yet, in fact most of their guests weren't. We went early.

After some time, we all started wandering and clicking pictures in the hall. It was feeling so good to walk there after a long journey.

While we were taking pictures, Bride and Groom had come. It took them almost half an hour to reach the stage. The chandeliers had created a dreamy entry for the couple.

The couple was looking so intimate and we felt a relief seeing them happy.

When they reached the stage, groom's side gathered there to take pictures. Like bro, it was us who took the long journey and came all the way to meet our girl.

They seemed not to go anywhere any time soon. Therefore, me and my cousins jumped on the stage(dheet ban kay) and greeted her. Only then those people and dozens of their children stepped down.

Ma sha Allah, there were so many children running everywhere. Couple of times they hit me too. I wish i were created patient when it comes to noisy kids.

Meeting your cousin after their wedding, with whom you have shared a strong bond, feels so emotional. How come we all grow up so fast?

After taking group photos we all stepped down. Food was being served and i had already had cold drink on empty stomach. Being a vegetarian i was quite disappointed after seeing the menu.

All the dishes had meat in it, i took the rice only. Apart from that i ate cream salad and tasted Qulfa only.

They had multiple types of salads, Biryani, kabab, Mutton, Tikkay, and steaks.

I ate very little though i was starving before, but the sight of food had vanished all my hunger. Or maybe it is the excitement of the weddings that girls don't eat much. On every wedding we plan to eat hard but that just doesn't happen.

Funny thing was when i saw my cousin's angry wife eating hard, forgetting that her beloved husband had left back in home.

However, i had 2-3 bottles of cold drink.

After the food, all the men came to ladies side. I don't understand the concept of segregated functions in the weddings, where both the genders gather at a time. Stop the hypocrisy of calling them segregated or arrange a mixed gathering Instead.

Next all the people gave salami to the couple. Meanwhile i ate medicine to prevent vomiting in the car.

Now was the time to leave for home. Again we went on the stage and greeted my cousin. We had almost no conversation with her during this time. Because her in laws weren't sparing her and leaving her alone.

Her husband didn't leave her side the whole function. Consequently, her mother in law intervened at the end of the function, and asked him to take some pictures on men's side also:p

Maqlawa was not supposed to happen the next day. Therefore we started our journey again, this time in another car, where no sad aunty was sitting. We enjoyed a lot and talked a lot that we didn't realise when we reached home.
