Salam, greetings to all, hoping your wellbeing. This is Amina Safdar gonna add my first ever publication in this community regarding to the contest of favourite Traditional Food. But before that many congratulations to dear @suboohi and @vvarishayy for this brand-new community to nurture the cultures around cosmos. Ok won't overdo this let's move right into my favourite cultural foods.

Flaxseed Balls(Alsi kay Laddu Aka Pinniyan)

Alsi kay laddu are my favourite sweet dish for winters. I don't eat sweet dishes with that passion but flaxseed balls are something that makes me long winter season.

Pinniyan are the cultural food in the Punjab of Pakistan since ages due to the fact that this food decreases the harsh weather in winters and makes the body warm. Specially in countryside making these ladus is an obligate tradition and we love doing so with tenderness❤

We make them every year with our mother in December when the temperature reaches the extreme with respect to chill weather. After that we enjoying eating it every single day as a snack with chaye(tea) or Milk

Recepie

1.It's pretty effortless. First of all grind or crush the flaxseeds in a crusher. Then roast this powered flaxseed and wheat flour separately in a vat without any oil or ghee.

2. Put the jaggery in the water until it dissolves finely in the water. Next you need to put this on the stove and turn on the flame. Let the water boil until it becomes little concentrated.

3.Add the dry fruits in the roasted flour along with desi ghee(organic). You can roast the dry fruits if you fancy.

4.Add the thick jaggery water into the flour and mix gently and thoroughly.

5. Next you've to make the balls of your desired size when the mixture is still hot otherwise you won't to able to mould the balls.

Btw I'll share some more foods because it's unfair to rely only on one food when there is an ocean to eat away:p

Matar Pulao(Pees Rice)

Matar pulao is the most dearest thing to me. I usually don't eat rice that much but can't turn down pulao.

Dahi Bhallay

It's mostly seen on the wedding festivals or during the Ramadan. I go to weddings for this to be honest. Last Ramadan my brother made this at home but spoilt our taste by adding cardamom(Ilaichi). Cardamom can only be liked when stewed in the tea ok?

That was terrible and he didn't admit that and even said it must've slipped in the paste from somewhere mysteriously. Anyhow he pleaded innocent😑

But otherwise this dish is delicious for Ramadan during the summers. The recepie demands some patience so bear with me kindly.

After that deep fry them in oil and turn the flame low to let them cook evenly from the core.
After frying them, put them in cold water on turing cool so that they can become soft like a sponge that enhances its ability to soak yogurt.
Then put them in chilled yogurt and add chat masala and sauce you desire on top of that and enjoy:)

I think i over did it, bear it kindly. I just get emotional when it comes to eating.
