A dream is something which wants to achieve for a specific purpose. It can be a family dream, societal dreams, business or work dreams or academic dreams or health dreams. Each one of us is faced with one or more of these dreams. Dreams are what directs our actions towards a path and a dream goes with a plan.

Write about a dream of yours that came true/or want to achieve.

Just like everyone one else I have many dreams or visions burning in my heart I want to achieve in life. The most pressing of these dreams of mine is becoming a successful agro-pastoral entrepreneur. For years I have been dreaming of having an outstanding agro-pastoral enterprise aimed at producing organic food production, training of agricultural engineers or technicians and offering consultancy services to existing farmers. Farming has been my passion and drive since I joined the field 12 years ago as a trainee in an agro-pastoral training center in my village.

The main reason for this dream is to participate in solving food shortage problems in my country, health problems to humans, animals and the environment. I want to solve this by producing purely organic food items which will have no chemicals hence enhancing human health with lower build up of chemical residues which leads to many health problems like cancers. Also the environment will be protected from frequent chemical sprays, aquatic life preserved. If I have to use fertilizer I will use animal droppings (animal decease).

This is a huge dream I know but I had started something about it 7 years ago and it was moving smoothly until the crisis in my country started and the whole farm was burnt. I had 1 hectare of maize then which was burnt down and the poultry farm too was burnt but fortunately I had sold all the chicken before the incident. This has greatly affected me but I am still hopeful to go on with my dreams soon.

What obstacles have you faced/facing to fulfill that dream? How you overcame those obstacles?

There are so many obstacles I face in realising this dream at this point which are

• Socio-political crisis: For seven years now my country especially my region is facing a crisis which has led to so many destruction in the region. Many businesses like mine have shutdown, many people kidnapped and killed. At this point if you have to engage with any activity it seems your giving a signal to criminals to come after you to keep on demanding money for crisis support. This scares me but in order to go on with my plans I am negotiating with someone in another region to get a piece of land so I can start working on my project idea. Hopefully by next cropping season I may have crops growing.

• Finance: This is the most hindering factor I have now as I can't engaged in my activities as I am supposed to. Not having money makes me think a lot and wonder how I will get my dream achieved. At the moment I am trying to do some little jobs in order to raise money for the project.

Who encourages you to fulfill your dreams?

Actually I have just my mother who encourages me and inspires me not to move on with my dreams no matter how difficult or challenging it may be. She always tells me my daughter never stop taking a step forward as that's the only way to getting what you want done, strong women struggle and fight for what they want. They don't give up. She's a strong and struggling woman too and so when I think of her words I feel inspired to move on.

What are the top 3 obstacles to not fulfilling one's dreams?

There are several obstacles which prevents people from achieving their dreams in life and below are some.

• Impatience: This happens to be a very pertinent issue with many people. We all have beautiful dreams which we want to achieve but with impatience everything gets spoiled. What most people do that distort their plans is trying to use a short cut in achieving their dreams after taking out time to spell out what at stake. Just because they don't want to wait for full maturity process, they use shortcuts which tends to destroy their dreams. Patience is the key to everything so let's exercise patience wisely

• Procastination: This is a terrible disease in many of us as we tend to postpone what we're to do today or a moment to a future day or time. When we do we may forget what we were to do and before we realize that we haven't achieved what we wanted. Procastination is not good for anyone so all we can do is start doing what's necessary to be done and stop procrastinating.

• Being in a comfort zone: A comfort zone is not good ooohhhh.... Someone like me I am tempted to be in my comfort zone most times. This greatly limits us from the opportunities that we would have had if we tried doing something. Being in your comfort zone makes one feel you have it all meanwhile you've achieved nothing. We have to have to step out of those comfort zones and get what's supposed to be done, sieze those opportunities and achieve our dreams and goals in life.

CONCLUSION

Dreams are life aspirations which we all want to achieve. We set plans on how to go about them but I want to ask, Do you have SMART PLANS? If no then try to make them smart so as to better achieve our dreams. There is nothing without obstacles or challenges, what makes us successful is overcoming them and the only way we can do so is by turning the obstacles to opportunities and step up in what we want to do.

Thank you all for visiting my post and I will like to invite @mesola, @chasad75 and @dequeen to join the contest.

Good luck in your dreams dear friends

Sort:

Your dream is valid, agriculture has so evolved that it's not untill one has to stain the hands before food can be made.

I love the fact you took the step to be a trainee while working towards your dream.
Keep dreaming, you will attain your zenith

Thanks for the engagement bro. Agriculture is an essential activity in our communal life and it feels good this serve the community with food. Nor just food but quality food. As for training I have had many of them to give me the skills I have now.
