One of the major ways to grow one's account is by powering up the account and this is one of the competitions or contests that doesn't seem old in the Steemit platform because of its importance to the growth of Steemians.

Today we enter week 39 in the power-up contest usually organised here by @jyoti-thelight which encourages us all to power up our Steem and grow our accounts. The contest aims at users showing the basic steps needed for the power-up and secondly, the reason why they think powering up is important.

Powering up the process as we know from the very beginning is always the same or one one-way process but for the sake of those who are new to the platform and who may need to perform this function on their own, I will be guiding them through the easiest way on how they can power up their Steem.

Now let's go ahead with the process of powering up this Steem without delay. Follow the steps below one after the other to enable you to power up your Steem.

Step 1: Go to your Steemit wallet and then log in using your private active key. It is important to use this key because this is the key used when performing momentary transactions in your account.

Step 2: Once you are properly login, you should see your wallet in the format of the screenshot below 👇

Step 3: Click on the drop-down menu which is close to the Steem token as seen in the screenshot below and then select the power-up option.

Step 4: Enter the amount of Steem you wish to power up and then press the power up button as seen in the screenshot below.

Step 5: Click on the OK button to confirm your transaction if all is good to go. The screenshot below shows where this OK button is located.

Step 6: Go back to your wallet and then check the balance of your Steem power and see if it has increased or not. To confirm that, I have placed a screenshot of the before and after of my wallet in the screenshot below.

Write the importance of performing powerup.

There are many reasons for powering up our Steem as Steemians and one of the most important reasons is to grow our accounts. I'm always involving myself in powering up because I want to grow my account and also be able to participate in all the activities within the Steemit platform.

You know that when applying for anything within the Steemit platform you will need to have a certain amount of SP. So because of this fact, I want to grow my SP to meet all the requirements of applying for these positions.

I want to also earn more curation rewards when I vote on other people's publications. With a higher SP one can earn a higher curation reward so these are the main reasons why I have remained consistent in powering up my Steem.
