INTRODUCTION

This week's challenge is centred on how extracurricular activities impacts the life of children, wouldn't you like to know how? If yes, then stick around to find out as we dive into the effects of extracurricular activities in the life of a child.

How can extracurricular activities help children's physical and mental growth?

Extracurricular activities are those exciting activities that children engage themselves with outside their everyday school routine to have fun, and relax.

These are activities children do when they are done with classes or work at home. Example of such activities can be playing football, or being in a club to explore their interests such as photography, cooking or even learning musical instrument or singing.

But then extracurricular activities are not just an avenue to have fun even as that is the reason for it. These activities also help children learn new things, develop skills, and make friends.

Hence, extracurricular activities adds extra excitement to their life outside of their regular routine, making it a fantastic way for them to explore their passions, make memories, and grow as a person.

Extracurricular activities plays a very important role for the physical and mental growth of children.

Physically, it serves as an avenue for them to move their bodies, be it running around, dancing, or having a swim, helping them stay active while also building strength, endurance, and coordination.

Extracurricular activities also helps in childrens' mental growth as they explore their interests, learn new skills, discover talents, build self-confidence, and also learn important life skills like teamwork, problem-solving, and time management while also having to express their creative, whether this be through art, music, or drama.

Do today's children like extracurricular activities, or are they forced to participate by their parents?

I think we can say this question should be reversed in the opposite direction because children in this part of the world loves any and all extracurricular activities and always being forced by parents to either go read book, sleep, rest or do chores.

Some kids (if not all) genuinely enjoy extracurricular activities and participate in them willingly without being forced to do so because they find these activities to be fun and exciting. This is like their avenue or only chance to explore their interests, make new friends, and challenge themselves in different ways.

But then, I can not deny the fact that there are also cases where parents get to force or encourage their children to participate in extracurricular activities, as they sees the benefit in doing so for their child's development.

However, it's important to know that every child is unique and their interests and motivations can vary, as some may feel pressured or forced to participate in these activities because for the sake of their parents' expectations or societal norms.

However, it is far much better for children to explore different activities and find the ones that genuinely capture their interest and passion. This way, they can get to enjoy and benefit from the experience.

Is extracurricular activity necessary for children?

To me, a necessity is what you need to survive so therefore I can say that extracurricular activities are not exactly necessary because children can actually live without these activities.

However, like I've stated earlier, these activities can be super helpful to children and leave a positive impact on their overall development because these activities provide opportunities for them to explore their interests, learn new skills, make friends, and build confidence. And again, they can also help kids discover their passions and talents outside of regular school activities.

Therefore as much as it is not a necessity or basic needs like clothing, food and shelter, they can definitely help contribute to their growth and happiness.

Which are the best extracurricular activities for today's children?

When it comes to the best extracurricular activities for today's children I can not exactly pinpoint one or two, however I believe there are a few popular options that can be super beneficial to our kids of today.

One of such is sports, any sport like soccer or basketball etc, as this helps our kids stay active, build teamwork skills, and boost their physical fitness.

Another awesome choice would be music, which includes learning to play an instrument or joining a choir, because these also allows our children to express their creativity, develop their musical talents, and even improve their focus and memory.

Let's not forget about creativity and art work such as painting or drawing, as this lets our kids unleash their imagination, develop fine motor skills, and express themselves in a visual way.

However, the very best extracurricular activities for any group of children would be the ones that align with their interests and passions, because this allows them to grow, learn, and have fun all at the same time.

Extracurricular activities are very important in physical and mental development. All sports including football, basketball, cricket, volleyball are important for building our body. Cultural activities or debating competitions are good for the mental development of children. There are many parents who try to stick their children only to text books. You have written very well about children's extracurricular activities.
Good luck to you.

@sahmie I appreciate how you emphasize both the physical and mental benefits these activities offer as well as the importance of allowing children to explore their own interests. Wishing you the best of luck in the contest

Halloo @sahmie
