Greetings and welcome to a very interesting topic on the differences in 2 different decades, yes the 90's and the 2k's. Hence, we will be looking into certain changes between the 90's and 2k'.

If you lived in both generations, like 90s and 2k which one did you like the most?

---

I was born in the late 90s, meaning I did experience some part of the 90s whereas the rest was told to us in moonlight tales. I say moonlight tales because I only heard of good things, such as how once you graduate from school, you're being provided a job and the rest.

However, I would say I enjoyed my few moments in the late 90s, moments like always having food at home as my grandfather had a big rice farm, and also my grandmother would always catch big fish from the river. Another thing I enjoy is having little but gaining much satisfaction, as the inflation rate was low and the naira amounted much to the dollar, not like today.

Coming onto the 2ks, a lot of things changed, in every aspect from the environment to technology, down to finance and the competitive way of life. With global warming leaving a sour taste on our environment, we lack the greenery we enjoyed in the 90s.

How is school life now, and what was it like in the nineties?

School life now in the world is much more refined and sophisticated than it was in the 90s, with technology playing a bigger role in education. Students now have access to laptops, tablets, and the internet, which makes carrying out research work and learning easy.

With the 2k, Online classes and virtual learning become common things, hence students don't need to be in one room. This in turn removes in-person communication between students and their teachers, while also making it difficult for the poor to partake.

I miss the good 90s when everyone no matter their social class sat together to sing nursery rhymes and share memories. The 90s came with an authentic learning experience, improved the reading ability among students and raised the standard of education which I believe the 2ks ruined, don't believe me, check the rate of exam malpractice statistics of the 90's and the 2ks. With the emergence of the internet, students became lazy in cultivating a reading culture as a Google search will bring to their doorstep what they need.

Compare 90s entertainment with 2K entertainment?

To me, the best entertainment was in the 90s, especially in the area of music. To this very day, I still play and dance to the tune of the 90s as they are evergreen. Musical artists like Fela Kuti, Lucky Dube, Bob Marley, Echo Toikumoh, Mike Okri, and Tilda sang songs that were educative in their lyrics and still playable to this very day.

In 2ks, many songs are covered up in beats with no meaning to their lyrics, and most of them are pushed to promote violence instead of educating which is supposed to be the primary aim of entertainment. The entertainment space became adulterated with ex-rated content everywhere.

In the 90s, I think there were classic video game consoles like Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis and Game Boy where we played games like Super Mario, Sonic the Hedgehog, Mortal Combat and Ocarina of Time, which kept us glued to our screens for hours.

Talking of the 90s sport, I grew up watching the last days of the legendary Michael Jordan dominate basketball, Ronaldinho and Jay Jay Okacha doing magic with the ball at his feet.

Moving up to the 2ks, gaming leapt with the emergence of PlayStation 2, and Xbox, which came with games like Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Halo, Winning Eleven, and Pro Evolutionary Soccer (PES). Then Online games with multiplayer experiences that connected players from all over the world gained popularity with more people getting internet-accessible devices.

While in sports, 2k gave me some unforgettable moments as I got to witness the dominance of athletes like LeBron James, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Usain Bolt taking centre stage. In the aspect of sports/gaming, I will count the experience as a valuable one of a pleasant blend of old moving into the new, I.e. an upgrade to the 90s.

Compare the sweets from the 90s and the 2Ks.

When it comes to sweets here in Nigeria, both the 90s and the 2ks had their tasty treats. In the 90s, we had some classic sweets that were loved by many, the delicious coconut candy was everyone's favourite, as it was crunchy and sweet.

Moving on to the 2ks, we welcomed a new street favourite in "Choco Milo," a sweet made from the combination of Milo powder and chocolate that created a rich and indulgent flavour. It was favourite to the point music would use it in their lyrics to edify how sweet a is.
