Describe what sport/game is popular most in your country

One game I found to be popular in my country Nigeria is Scrabble. The game of scrabble is a very interesting game but guess what? The game of scrabble is not just an interesting game but a very educative game.

Brief history on the game of scrabble

The game called scrabble is a game that dates as far back as 1931 when a man named Alfred Butt originated it. Formally the game was called Criss Cross. But criss cross was later restructured and that was when it was given the name scarbble, this happened in 1948.

So it is safe to say the game has a united states origin but was later passed down to other countries. And that was how it got to Nigeria.

The Game of Scrabble

This game called scrabble is a game that involves the players forming new words from the letters they have. This words formed must be found in the dictionary else it will not count.

The game of scrabble will actually teach you English words. So to be a winner in this game you need to be vast with English words. In Scrabble game, a total number of 100 letters can be found and this game is not played alone, it is played with players ranging from two to four.

The scrabble game is popular with young people of my country. Especially smart kids. A fun game that involves the intellect. Words have to cross like solving a puzzle in a Scrabble game.

In my country this game is played in homes, in schools and even on the streets. This is how popular this game can be.

Is the game played in an international Competitions like Olympics or other world championships

Yes scrabble game is played at the international level. My country has been represented to play this game at championships, both world championships and west Africa.

Nigeria is one of the best countries good in Scrabble infact in Africa, Nigeria is the the best, I mean is ranked as number 1.

Do you consider that your players are world class? If yes name a few of them

Oh yes! I consider that the players of Nigerian scrabble team are world class. A number of them have won medals and Even cash prices.

Is an example of a Nigerian world class player. He has won the African championships twice. In 2008 and in 2010. He has also won north American scrabble before.

He is another champion from Nigeria I know. I have even had opportunity to meet with him. I know him closely and I can tell you that he plays well. Very smart guy. He recently won the African championships that held in Zambia and west Africa championship that held in Ghana.

Time will fail me to mention more Nigerian scrabble players who has done so well for themselves and for the nation.

Is your Country's Favorite Game and your Country's national game the same or different?

In my opinion I think my country favorite game and national game is different because not all our favorite games are played at the international level.

For instance some of the favorite games we have in my country is ludo and whot are not played at the international level. They are just for fun at home.

But there are other favorite games in my country that are seen as national games like football, basket ball, scrabble, and many others.
