The contest blockchain in government services is a wonderful one and I want to share what I feel about it through this publication, hence let's look at it together.

Firstly let's start by defining what blockchain is all about and atleast have a brief history of a blockchain technology in that way we can better understand what I will be writing and sharing here with us. Let's get started.

The word blockchain simply means a decentralised digital ledger which is responsible for recording transactions and other data's across different computer system which also can be seen by all i.e., otmis transparent and also it is very secured which means that data can't be changed once recorded meaning it is immutable.

Now that being said, it is important to state here that blockchain has many use case which include the cryptocurrency usecase which is the first use case of the technology, the health sector, voting and many more.

Blockchain technology can be dated back as far as 2009 when Bitcoin started. As I said earlier the first usecase of the blockchain technology is in the cryptocurrency space. So the characteristics it has is that it is immutable, transparent, decentralised and secured among others.

If the government wishes to adopt the use of blockchain technology in land Registries and tax collection it will go a long way to generate for the government their required revenue and it will also go a long way to reduce the corruption within the government officials.

Why do I say this, if you look carefully at the characteristics of the blockchain technology you will understand that it doesn't compromise and it doesn't allow cheat of any kind. The transparency nature, secure nature, decentralised nature and lastly the immutable nature won't allow corruption to take the lead since the government officials are aware that the technology use in this aspect has this qualities.

I don't know for other places but here in Nigeria, you will see government officials collecting tax daily from traders and yet they can't use the money generated from this tax to fix the road to make it motorable so that people don't get to struggle bringing their goods to the market.

So my thought is maybe the money collected here doesn't get to the government because from my little experience when a place pays tax, they government uses they money alongside other money to put the place in a better shape for everyone around that area.

For land Registries also, it is good for every land to register and have its detail on the blockchain where all can see. This will stop the issue of land dispute completely because at the moment, here in my community people fight almost every time on lands. Families and villages clashes once a while on land disputes.

So once all these are taken over by the blockchain technology, then I believe that the world in the aspect of tax payment, land Registries and many more will be better.
