I'm an agriculture export and I have good knowledge about agricultural products .. So that I'm sharing my knowledge about most nutritive feed for animal namely Napier grass.

Napier grass/Elephant grass
• It is also known locally as elephant grass.
• Napier grass is a leafy, branching, vigorous-
growing perennial fodder grass.
• Under favorable conditions, attains at a height
of 10 to 15 feet at maturity.
• It has a strong, extensive fibrous root system
*As a feed taken by Domestic animals such as cow, buffalo etc..,some of the fish too : Grass carp is best example.

Nutritive value:
• Crude protein 8-12%
• Crude fiber 26-28%
• Digestible nutrients 55-58%

Climate:
• It is only grown in the frost-free regions but can resist drought condition.
• Napier grass is a tropical species, but
adaptable in nature and can be grown
successfully in the subtropics and even in the
warmer sections of the Temperate Zone.
• Grows in area with rainfall over 1000mm
• Cannot tolerate waterlogged conditions.

Soil Requirements
• Soils of good fertility with high water table are
preferable.
• Silt loams and clay loams, fairly fertile and well
drained, soil types are quite suitable to the
growing of this crop.
• Can bear soil acidity upto 5.5

Manuring and fertilization:
• Apply farm yard manure at the rate of 20-25
ton per hectare of land
• Basal does of 60kg N, 50kg P2O5 per ha.
• 40g N top dressed after first cut.

Irrigation
• Annual rainfall of 1000mm is needed
• Irrigated at an interval of 15-18 days in spring,
10-12 days in summer.
• Irrigation is done after every cutting.
