Hmmm, this question is a very deep one. No one can tell what would have happened if there was no fire. The invention of fire today has brought about more upgrades to the local fire we know. Today, we have sources of fire that have made life a lot easier.

Fire is very essential for survival and also very important to man. Imagine without fire, we cannot cook, get warm, differentiate between light and darkness, no Agriculture, technology would not be able to progress without fire. Man's discovery of fire was the greatest form of discovery by humanity, we can't imagine life without fire anymore.

Without the invention of fire, man would have sourced other means, probably. The stars and the moon would have served as a light to man. Or maybe it would have been complete darkness. Maybe life would have been similar to living on the moon. No one can tell what exactly would have been if fire was never invented.

Man discovered fire by rubbing together two pieces of stone. My Uncle had told my siblings and me the story of how the fire was discovered.

He said the men of the early days were travelers. They can travel for months without knowing how far they have gone and one day they got to a point and stopped. They decided to rest there and also find something to eat.

In this process, they made tenth, and ate their bread which they took along with them before the journey. One amongst them had two pieces of stone and was striking them together, unknowingly to him, light struck out and he was asked by others to do it again and again. They brought sticks together and used them to help the fire last all through the night.

I don't know how true this story is but this story has been my idea of how fire was discovered.

Advantages of fire

•Clearing of Lands: Fire can be used to clear lands for agricultural purposes. After clearing the land and being allowed to dry, you can set it on fire and it clears faster too. This process helps to create fertile soil for cultivation.

•Use for cooking and warmth: This process has started since its inception. Our fathers had used fire as a means of cooking and also getting warmth. I enjoy cooking with fire logs, it's faster and has a separate taste for meals. When you feel cold, and go close to the fire, you get warm immediately, so fire serves as warmth to man.

•Use as signals and light: Fire can be used as a source of light in the dark. Even now, if you are in a dark room and a match stick is struck, automatically you see that small fire that comes out. It can also sever as a signal device to create awareness, attract attention, pass information, and scare bad people away.

•Health hazards: Toxic fumes and smoke from fire can be very dangerous to human health. Staying close to a smoker is very harmful and can cause respiratory issues, eye irritations, or other health issues. Fumes from burning bushes are also bad for health.

•Destruction: Fire can be very destructive. It can destroy homes, forests, and buildings very fast and it can lead to loss of life. Fire can spread within 2 minutes, especially during windy seasons making it difficult to extinguish.

Yes, fire is very essential to man. Fire is one of the elements that has been used by humans for so many things like; rituals, generating heat and light, cooking, clearing of lands, for signals.

Without fire, man wouldn't have sought means to cook or other things. This means that fire is very essential to man and its environment.

Educate employees on guidelines for fire safety

Educating employees on these risks can help to identify and avoid hazardous situations in the environment. Imagine a fuel pump attendant who doesn't know the risk, can allow a customer to drop a stick of smoke on the floor without quenching it. Or the employee can stand as she attends to customers to answer her cell phone. But letting them know these little things can help save our environment.

Have a good and functional fire extinguisher in place

If a fire breaks out, having a good fire extinguisher can make a huge difference between a major disaster and a minor incident. This extinguisher can help stabilize the fire outbreak from escalating.

Every building should be equipped with the Smoke dictator. With this dictator, early warning of fire is been alerted to everyone and this gives people enough time to evacuate the building or environment.
