“Steemit Engagement Challenge - S13/W3 - How SEC Improved Engagements on the Steemit Platform?"

If you joined steemit before May 2022, you will notice that there was nothing like the Steemit engagement Challenge.

People joined the communities they love and appreciate. So many communities were hosting contest plus individual contest to woo users to their community.

There was interactions through comments but specifically among those that have forged a bond of friendships.

All these happened untill SEC came. What positive influence does it have on the platform?

This contest by @hindwhale community will do justice to it. The topic is How SEC improved engagements on the Steemit platform? and I will like to invite @goodybest @rothjoe and @xkool24 to take part.

What was Steemit like before the SEC?

I joined steemit when anyone can publish his article in any community. During that time community owners work so hard to ensure the community is up and running at any point in time.

Those community owners worked really hard and spent much money to build their community.

Publications were voted irrespective of the community. People were free to explore and migrate to any community they want.

Some of the communities were project communities dedicated to the growth, promotion and the awareness of steem and steemit.

There were also some communities that offer help and assistance to others in need even when they may not be steemians. That drew the attention of even onlookers to steemit, as they wanted to know what steemit is all about.

Discuss the changes you noticed in Steemit following SEC.

With the introduction of the SEC, so many things literarily changed.

There are topics to write on every week and every day, this definitely increased engagement. Many who were lost on what to write on, now have something to publish week in week out.
It also increased interaction among users since winning the contest involves interaction.

Additionally, the quality of contents improved as it is required to be eligible for upvote.

Another improvement is that MODS now started working hard. It was as if they were resting all this while.

The activities of the communities now became more precised and and straightforward. They became more committed to there work, hence, improving the overall health of the community.

However, it seemed that activities (publications) are now centralized, focused within the communities that were selected for the weekly engagement.

It also seemed to be that most publications made in these SEC communities, received majority of the upvotes. That also made the votes to be centered around the communities.

Many users deserted other communities and subscribed to the SEC communities in the quest to receive upvote.

Communities engaging in the contest where supported while those not selected do not receive upvotes except on rare occasions.

How many of the seven weekly challenges can you participate in each week?

Participation in the weekly challenge is necessity for me. Sometimes, I participate in 6, 5 of the topics depending on my time.

Each week and it's activities is entirely different for me. So if I have a lot of off chain activities to attend to within the week, I will engage less. It could also be that I am down in health, that would also be a challenge for me.

However, I strive to engage in as many engagement challenges as possible.

How does the SEC change your personnel interests and involvement on Steemit?

It has only made me to become more active in steemit, post publications more frequently, making out time to genuinely and meditatively comment on other users publications, thereby, increasing my activity level in steemit.

I would say that it's arrival have had a positive influence within the platform.

Conclusion

The SEC has really brought positive changes to steemit. I love it a lot even though other communities that are not chosen for a particular season will have to work hard to retain active posters. I am doing part by taking part in the engagement challenge. I appreciate the steemit team for coming up with such initiative.
