SEC-S16/W3 - "Who has the strongest influence on children? Father, mother, teacher, siblings, or friends?
When I saw this question, It really made me laugh. Why? Because sometimes ago, I and my friends were having a discussion just similar to this.
It has always been a hotly debated topic and coming up as a topic in this platform is really worth it.
The topic for this contest is Who has the strongest influence on children? Father, mother, teacher, siblings, or friends?
The contest tips will act as a guide as I explore on this topic.
How does a father have a strong influence on children?
A father is the head off the family. He was given that role by the Almighty and thus other members of the family are submissive to him. Although headship does not make him a tyrant, boss or monarch, rather leader, and caring head to whom all others in the family looks up to.
To exert such a great influence on the children, the father have to be able to provide for the children materially, physically and mentally. He should be tolerant, kind, considerate and loving. He should be able to commend them where they did well and discipline and correct them lovingly when it is needed.
A father should have time to spend with the children, playing with them, teaching them and also having a good time with them.
In fact one of the best way of doing this is by being a good example to them.

How does a mother have a strong influence on children?
A mother is the next in line to the father. She has the obligation to work together with the father in carrying out decisions in the home. She is a complement and helped to the man. She should be loving and kind, compassionate be able to correct and disciplined the children while praising them when needed.
She is the closest to the children and as such it is easier for her to get more information as to their welfare.
She should show the children by example what it means to by loyal and submissive to their father. Her influence on the children is a strong one too.

How does the teacher have a strong influence on children?
Teachers play a vital role in childrens development. So they also have an influence on them. Remember that children within schooling age spend most of their time in school with their teacher. So a good teacher with strong moral influence.ce will affect the children for good. However, when there leanings is against the moral principle, parents to well to help their children know that it is not right. I can even tell them to explain to the teacher the right thing to do.
How do siblings have a strong influence on children?
Siblings have an influence on each other. This is especially true of the older ones. The younger ones most atimes looks up to the older ones in how they act. That is why in a family, the parents should train the older ones well. Hence when the older child acts well, it becomes more easier to groom the younger ones. I noticed that when my second child was born, he was faster in learning things than when my first child was born. My second child mimicked my child first in whatever she does. She served as a source of great influence to the progress of my second child.

How do friends have a strong influence on children?
Friends do have influence on children but not a strong one. Why I say so is because, when parents are their childrens primary friends, it will be difficult for external friends to wield such strong influence on their children.
But children who are left on the loose by their parents learns most to from their friends and most times, it doesn't go down well.
Conclusion
It is obvious that fathers and mothers have the greatest influence on their children when they make out time and groom them.
However, in a situation where they fail to live up to their expectations as parents, then outsider will fill into that role.
