So friends, without delay, let us have some important discussion about our traditional Shitalakshya river.

In this beautiful world of ours, three-fourths is water and one-half land. Water is a very precious and important thing for us. In one word it can be said that the other name of water is life. We read in secondary school books that rivers are formed by streams of rainwater or snowmelt flowing down from high ground. In one word it can be said that the flow of water from one place to another is called a river. The earth is surrounded by oceans and rivers. In this beautiful surface, we have many small and big rivers in Bangladesh, among which the main rivers are,

  • Padma
  • Meghna
  • Yamuna
  • Karnaphuli
  • Teesta
  • Sangu
  • Kartoa etc.

All these rivers are the main rivers of our Bangladesh. Apart from these rivers, Bangladesh has many tributaries and branch rivers. If you review well, you will see that all these rivers are very beneficial for us and on the other side are very dangerous.

Because of these big rivers, our Bangladesh is losing many people's homes. However, in this riverine country we have some rivers which are the means of livelihood of thousands of our people. Today I will discuss something about Shitalaksha river in Dhaka. In Bangladesh we have many rivers like main river tributaries branch rivers. Today I will discuss in front of you that district river. Shitalaksha River located in Dhaka is a district river located in Dhaka Narsingdi Gazipur Narayanganj.

This river is only used for drainage of water from Nardana of Dhaka city and waste water from homesteads. This river is very deep and wide. In this river, goods of big factories such as furniture and clothing of the company are exchanged through different types of raw material launches. There are big launches on this river which can be taken from Dhaka to the ferry wharves of Narsingdi Gazipur Narayanganj. Earlier, the beauty of the river was very good, but now the condition of this river is very bad and ugly.

The water of this Shitalakshya river is very smelly and unsanitary water. The water of the main rivers is as clear as the clear water in no other river. If you pay attention, you can see that the water of Narayanganj district river is black water like engine-driven burnt oil. When a launch steamer boat moves in these waters, a strange smell enters the nose from the water. If one travels for the first time in this river, he will vomit.

However, many people earn their livelihood by operating steam trawlers in boats on this river. It takes ten rupees to cross the river here by boat. And if someone wants to cross the river by trawler, then he has to pay two rupees. Most people cross the river by trawlers because it is cheaper. When I and my friend go to this Shitalaka river, we roam around for some time and enjoy the scenic beauty.

On the other side of the river there are two big schools where thousands of students cross daily in this trawler paying two rupees. There are bustling markets on both sides, where a variety of raw materials are available at low prices. As of today I have concluded my brief discussion before you about this river. So friends this was a small post that I presented to you today. Hope you all like it. Wishing everyone good health and well being.
