What does gender equality entail, and what are the advantages?

Gender equality refers to the equal treatment of men and women and their shared rights, responsibilities, and opportunities. The concerns, requirements, and preferences of both females and males are taken into account, acknowledging the variety within various groups of females and males.

Women's basic rights are still being violated worldwide, with discrimination present in various areas such as education, work, social security, inheritance, economic assets, resources, and participation in society. Women dedicate two to ten times as much time as men to unpaid work, serving as a major obstacle to their economic and political empowerment.

Persistent differences and imbalances between men and women have a negative impact on society as a whole. In any community, women account for half of the resources and opportunities. This potential is unrealized when discrimination and injustices against women limit them. Many of the gender differences that exist in childhood intensify in maturity. There are obstacles that prevent women from accessing proper nourishment and healthcare, which raises their mortality rates. When people grow older and become adults, gender differences get wider.

Is gender equality crucial for all people, not just women?

Gender equality is very necessary for all genders found in the society to express their talents and potentials and fulfill their desires without any restrictions. Regardless of gender whether it is male, female or a third gender, equality is essential to maintain and treat everyone equally.

Gender inequalities exist in terms of education, position, economy, social status, etc. based on the difference between male and female.In other words, even though both men and women do the same job in the same workplace, men get higher salary and women get less salary. This reduces the status of women there.

While this is happening, this gender inequality is an obstacle to the development of the country. And this gender inequality is seen as an obstacle for everyone to express their individual talents.

What are your thoughts on gender equality, specifically concerning the circumstances in your country?

The concept of male and female is deeply rooted in the culture of a country. Unfortunately, this gender inequality forces women to live with inferiority complex. Gender inequality is the major social issue in our country India. The irony is that although India considers itself a great civilization, India has yet to overcome its prejudices against women.

There is gender disparity in various fields like employment, education etc. Gender equality in family and social life is still far from achieved. Although there are many laws to protect women, they do not get justice easily. Or the same law is misused by some errant women, so innocent men are also punished by it.

According to me law and justice should be equal whether male or female and men and women should be treated equally in society and family.

How to educate our children to understand this issue?

Awareness programs and campaigns can be arranged to raise awareness in society regarding the adverse impacts of gender inequality. Ignoring the rights of women, who make up half of the population, prevents any society from advancing. The government needs to guarantee that boys and girls receive equal treatment in schools. Students need to learn the importance of showing mutual respect.

Men and women are equal but different. Do not attempt to make a man be a woman or a woman be a man. Value likenesses and welcome diversities. There is a purpose behind how nature created us.

Every person has the right to live in freedom and without discrimination. Gender discrimination will gradually decrease only if people respect each other gender and do not prevent them from getting their rights. No change happens instantly. The goal can be achieved only gradually. Therefore, we must be mentally prepared and act to bring about gender equality by eliminating gender discrimination.

Since gender equality is a fundamental human right, it is of great benefit that societies where this gender equality can be properly pursued can build a peaceful and prosperous society. Everyone should understand that no one is less than anyone else in this world on the basis of gender.
