Steemit Engagement Challenge / S16/W6 - "What happens if motor vehicles are banned around the world?

This is quite an interesting contest, even though I do have one doubt are all transportation vehicles that run on a motor included? Because if this is so, we are also talking about right off of my head, planes and ships also. If these are included, this makes the results of this ban even more complicated. I will work on the premise that only land vehicles are included, cars, trucks, motorcycles and I expect trains. Trains do already have an equivalent in electric trains at least for passengers, so I guess I will not include them.

What happens if motor vehicles are banned around the world?

The first thing that comes to mind, is complete chaos, I think especially in big cities, where most people commute to their jobs. Yes, this can be alleviated by use of electric mass transportation, but still, a person would have to work with the vehicles schedule, it would be hectic, I can imagine the problems at the train or trolley terminals and stops. Of course, it would also cause havoc in the transportation of goods. I am just visualizing the first days or maybe months of this ban, as I imagine if this ban is made an alternative must already be in the works. So I envisage first of all chaos and then we will have to ration certain foods that will become rather scarce in all parts of the world. The people in transportation would lose their jobs in the millions, maybe hundreds of millions. I just thought of this right now, what will wars be like without vehicles? Back to horse back attacks? Yes, every single aspect of human interaction will be affected by this ban.

As for positives, well pollution would definitely be much less, we would have less accidents that is a given. I guess the tourist industry will be greatly reduced, so the places where tourism has become the main source of income will have less tourist, much less tourists. This is good and bad. Bad because you say goodbye to your main income source, good because your resources will not be consumed by outsiders, your natural resources will become pristine once again.

Will humans again seek the help of animals for transport?

I believe the ban of motor vehicles can only come to pass if we face imminent catastrophe because of them or because a viable alternative has been found. As for animals, I believe I would much rather use a bicycle than a horse. However in rural areas animals might be the natural alternative. In fact in my country in the countryside horses and donkeys are very much used as transportation.

How would our environment be without motor vehicles?

Certainly the environment would be one of the great winners if this were to happen. No more smoke from exhausts, no oil spills all over the place, things would certainly be cooler. Over all I see a great improvement on our environment if this happens.

What will it be if humans invent any form of transportation other than the motor in the future?

Already we have a myriad of electric transportation vehicles. Cars, motorcycles, trains all have an electric counterpart. Of course we would have to have completely renewable energy sources for this to work out. However I have heard of hydrogen powered motors, water powered, and I guess the easiest of all would be air powered. A motor that could suck in air, use it for energy and then discharges this air back to the atmosphere would be great I guess. I know, I probably missed a lot of alternatives, but that is all I could think of right now.

As a recap, I really don't think that banning motor vehicles is a good idea, we are just not ready for it.
