Greeting steemit friends
Democracy is a term used to confuse us and make us feel like we have a say in decisions. Like I will tell my friends. Politics is at different levels, we have international politics managed by the big guns, national political hands in countries, and local politics in our community and institutions. Democracy is a means of giving every member a feeling of representation.

🩹How is democracy functioning in your country?

Cameroon is a democratic country in the document and the international view. Every democratic procedure has been carried out according to demand by international laws. So, I will want to complain about the method of how it has been carried out.

Cameroon has one of the longest-serving presidents but from the last three presidential elections. He won without any manipulation of results. I said past three because I participated and I followed up on the campaign, voting, and counting of the election.

I will give you a small analogy. CPDM, which is the current ruling party, has the strategy of dividing and ruling. They create small sections, giving the possibility of many being section presidents. In an area of 1000 inhabitants, they will create four sections. that will mean four section presidents, making it easy to reach the grass root population. People love power, and will easily join the CPDM in order to claim the ladder of power.

With this strategy, the ruling party has a good number of loyal members. So you see, holding an election with about 4 million registered members. Most of the eligible members of the voter are lawyer section presidents, the reason for the ruling party to democratically win elections and stay in power.

It is an analogy many youths in Cameroon will not want to accept, the question will be? How many youths have registered? None. They are only ready to come out on the stress or social media. Democracy is not on social media, it is in the ballot box.

🩹Is your country free from any domination ruled?

Yeah, it is free if you have a well understanding of the laws in Cameroon. Some youths will come out and claim we have a dictatorial rule. But I will not agree with that, because cameroon is not a lawless state. Many have come to think when you go away with the wrong thing means it is right. No, I have nothing with Cameroon, and I'm sure with other countries. The government is very relaxed about some crimes, not that they don't know about them. If the criminal thinks he/she is about the law, that is when the government then cracks it down. Those who are hurt start to say the government is unlawful in executing power.

For example, the opening of churches. In my city Bamenda, individuals just open churches at random after getting permission from the Ministry of territory administration. That is a text in the Cameroon constitution that demands the owner to have that first. The churches are functioning, the day the minister will sign a communique to ban them. They start saying the government is persecuting the church. Why, just because the government let them function in the first place?

🩹Is your country self-sufficient in food production?

For food production, I will look in two ways. If you look at canned food, then Cameroon is not self-sufficient in food production. Then if we are talking about local farm procedures, Cameron is self-sufficient. Cameroon has a variety of cash crops (such as coffee, tea, cotton, cocoa, fruit, and rubber) just to name a few. Most of these crops are cultivated all around the season.

Cameroon might have difficulties in transporting farm products to market due to poor farm-to-market roads. Given that preservation methods are not the best, Cameroon is losing a lot of perishable farm products. That could be the only reason to have limited food in our markets.

🩹How is youth employment in your country?

Youth employment is one of the core responsibilities of the Cameroon government. The government has taken several measures and this is one of the main agenda of the president's Vision 2035. I will list some institutions in addition to the Ministry of Youth Affairs.

  • PIAASI (Integrated Support Project for Actors in the Informal Sector). French acronym
  • NEF (National Employment Fund).
  • CNYC (The Cameroon National Youth Council).
  • PAJER-U (Rural and Urban Youth Support Program). French acronym
  • PIFMAS (Youth Socio-Economic Integrated Project for the Manufacturing of Sporting Materials). French acronym
  • ASCNPD (The National Civic Agency for Participation in Development) French acronym

All these institutions have programs funded by the government to empower youths in the country. So, this institution carried out training and follow-up for youths to be self-employed.

🩹What you want your country to be like?

Cameroon is a developing country, and the government is doing its best to grow. What I want for Cameroon is a change in presidency. I don't have a problem with the current president, I just have the feeling he has overstayed in power. A change will speed up some sectors in the country. Everyone has a sector of interest, but now I try to touch every sector. He has sped up sectors like electricity, education, and sports. I think allowing another will speed up the road and transport network in Cameroon.

Thank you for the invite..
I would try and put in my entry..

From all you have said it looks like your country has a more stable economy unlike what we have in my country. Hmm they even have the youth employment at heart wow!

I can't remember that part working in my country.

Well, the economy is not that stable but apart from the crisis in my region. Cameroon is a stable country to pay a visit some day. Youth employment is a huge agenda in the government program.

I think Nigeria has what you guys call NYC, that is a channel to empower youths.

Do you mean nysc? Well I don't know what you know about that but Its a compulsory 1year service after you are done with your higher institution to serve the country, so please how is that a youth empowerment?

so please how is that a youth empowerment?

You are given the chance to the server for 1 year. During that 1 year, you will gain experience, and some will pick skills which the can use later. It is a very good program, just that I notice most Nigerian youths keep waiting on the government. Our government cannot employed all the youths in the country.

I wonder why you are in support of my government you know nothing about?

Anyways he who wears the shoes knows where it hurts the most

Hahahahahahaha
@ruthjoe, I know how youths think. Youths are good in making noise on the social media, with no physical action.
The government has created opportunity, but we don't want to do things the right way.
