Steemit Engagement Challenge S11/W4 - How is democracy functioning in your country?
Steemit Engagement Challenge S11/W4 | " How is democracy functioning in your country?."
The topic is more relevant as I am posting it on the eve of our Independence Day. That's right, we celebrate our independence day on the 15th of August every year. I will answer all your questions in the same order as you have asked them.

When a common man takes part in the process of administration and governance and is directly elected by vote, that is a democracy, and that's what is applicable in India. The entire process of election of government at all levels is controlled by citizens of our country. Even the senior officers of the administration are appointed through independent agencies after a tough selection process. We are governed by direct democracy.
In fact, we follow the rule of "Compulsory Referendum". In this plebiscite, the Constitution is made for the convenience of the people. This is a means of direct democracy by which the public itself initiates law-making, and we call it, "Of the people, by the people, for the people."
In the Indian political system, we follow direct democracy, with a government that is elected by all those whose names are present on the voter's list. The Indian political system is a form of democracy in which people directly participate in the decision-making process. In our political system, there are various bodies that represent different forms of democracy.
One such institution, which is an example of direct democracy, is the election commission. The most basic unit of polity in India is a general assembly consisting of all adult members who have the right to vote. Social Justice: Then we have state assemblies that are independent governments under Union laws that ensure social justice. The Indian political system, as it provides a platform for the people to participate directly in the decision-making process

India celebrates Independence Day every year on the 15th of August. India got independence from British rule on this day in the year 1947. This day is a matter of pride for every countryman, and it is celebrated with the utmost grandeur in the country. On this day, not only is there the joy of the country's independence, but the marks and sacrifices of the freedom fighters who laid down their lives for the country are also remembered.
The Prime Minister of our country hoists the national flag on the Red Fort. And all other government and non-government organizations celebrate Independence Day in their own way. Everyone feels proud and remembers when we gained our independence.

Now our journey in food production has gone from a shortage to an exporter of food grains. The foreign rulers had brought the agriculture system to such a state that, at the time of independence, the country neither had sufficient food grains nor the basic facilities for food production. In 1950โ51, only 50 million metric tons of food grains were produced, which was not enough to feed the country's 350 million population.
The seriousness of the situation can be gauged from the fact that in 1962, 15 years after independence, our leaders had to appeal to the people of the country to observe a one-time fast. I have read our leaders saying, "Tie a rope on your stomach, eat more greens and vegetables, fast once a week, and respect the country as your own."
To deal with this situation as soon as possible, Indian politicians took many big steps, including land reform, expansion of irrigation facilities, promotion of scientific methods and research in agriculture, and the Green Revolution. With the passage of time, the use of new technology and machines helped increase the production of food grains. As a result, today India not only provides food grains to its entire population but also exports agricultural products. Presently, India ranks second in the world in terms of food production.

India is a developing country, and the number of youth workforce here is very high as compared to other countries. Now that the youth are more numerous, creating employment opportunities here is a big challenge. There is a need to work at the grassroots level for employment in India. Fixing educational institutions in this structure is of the utmost importance. About 80 percent of the graduates have been found unemployed in India, so it is also pointed out that there is a great need for change or improvement in the structure of educational institutions.
In India, fewer funds are allocated for R&D in proportion to the Gross Domestic Product, which is one of the main factors in the absence of employment. Developed countries spend about 3 percent on R&D, while India spends only 0.86 percent. By increasing their expenditure on R&D, big companies will increase their chances of opening in India. Demands to create a better business model. As India is a huge country, there is a need to pay attention to the domestic economy in order to increase jobs here.

Per capita income in India has doubled. But one challenge still remains. India became the fifth-largest economy in the world last year. After the ND government came to power, the per capita income doubled to Rs 1,72,000. But unequal income distribution remains a major challenge. In 2014โ15, the per capita income in India was Rs 86,647. According to this, per capita income has increased by 100 percent in the last 9 years. At the same time, the per capita income at real prices (constant prices) increased by 35 percent during this period.
In the year 2014โ15, the per capita income at real prices was Rs 72,805, which increased to Rs 98,118 in 2022โ23. You are looking at the GDP at current prices, but if you look at the figure keeping the inflation rate in mind, then this increase is very small. Most of the increase in income has gone to the top 10 percent of the population. On the contrary, the average salary is declining. In real terms, it is less, but if you compare us with the rest of the world, we are in a better position.
Note: At today's rate, 1 USD is equal to 83 Indian rupees, or 1 STEEM is equal to INR 15. Incidentally, in comparison to the rest of the world, we are in a far better position.

In the 75 years of independence, there have been radical changes in many other areas, including education, health, Indian banking, transport services, internet connectivity, and media. At a time when India was going through a lack of health services, becoming a global supplier of medicines and vaccines in an epidemic like Corona is a major achievement.

We must be proud of our achievements, but we must not forget that the achievement we are celebrating is only a step towards opening up new opportunities. Even greater victories and achievements await us. In the future, we will not have to rest and sit quietly, but make continuous efforts.
I would like to invite my friends @josepha, @ @crismenia, and @ridwant to please show their views.

Greetings! Your thoughtful blog encapsulates India's journey and progress since Independence. You've presented a comprehensive view on democracy, food production, employment, income distribution, and more. The country's growth, from being a global medical supplier to improvements in various sectors, indeed reflects remarkable achievements. However, your call to continue striving for further advancements resonates deeply. Keep the spirit of progress alive! ๐ฎ๐ณ๐
Thank you for the kind review. I know we lack in certain fields but we shall have to look at the reasons behind them- The dirty politics. If we could work together without party politics, we would have reached far ahead. Thank you once again.
@dove11 I can see drastical measures drafted from your piece of article for your country. From the margin, I notice that there's an advancement in the monetary comparison with most major cities in the world. And India you said has gone to an exporter, leaving an indelibly remark that there's an importunity to be embraced..... Congrats.
That's right, we are a country of 1.4 billion people the highest number in the world and doing very well. Let me add to the list that we provided 2 billion plus corona vaccines to our citizens and sent millions to other countries for free of charge. We provide free and paid grains to different countries too.
Wow.. India has done its best... Nigeria is sliding off. God will have mercy

Such an emotional writeup, India has been one of the forefront of democracy so far, some developing countries look forward to the next step of democracy from India and they have shown time without number that they are capable of flagging the democratic flag.
All we need is to be part of the government that determines our fate and democracy is the way forward.
Goodluck to you on this contest.
Thanks, yes democracy is the voice of its citizens and gives them equal rights as part of the government.
Itโs nice to know India really adheres to a โfor the people and by the peopleโ kind of democracy. It shows power is in the hands of the people. Itโs a bit slippery in Nigeria
I know Nigerians are facing a couple of problems for a long time and even about they revolted in the past. But everything comes to en end ultimately.
yes, i hope it would all resolve itself peacefully as violent means are usually over the top at here.
Very informative post. Your presentation is so good. I know many information from you. Thanks for sharing friend
