Contest | “Being Grateful
“As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words but to live by them.” John F. Kennedy
What is being grateful according to you?
Gratitude is a great quality of every human being, and mind it, I said human being, but I feel even the animals have this quality in them. For me, a grateful man is one who understands the value of expressing gratitude not only with his words but also by dedicating himself to his soul and mind. In reality, true gratitude lies in one's soul and heart, not just in words, where one expresses gratitude only through speech.
In fact, by showing our gratitude, we make a promise that we are grateful to you, and if God gives us an opportunity in this life, we will follow suit.
Unfortunately, most of us do not either understand what gratitude is or are too selfish. Today, a few people express their gratitude, but only in the form of "thanks." Do you feel gratitude expressed just by saying, "Thank you?" Or is there something else? Today I will try to give you my opinion on this crucial topic, which we call "gratitude."
What are the top five things you are grateful for in your life?
I will give you a simple test to see if you're grateful for what you have in your life. If you learn to show your gratitude, all your disappointments will disappear, and a feeling of love will start sneaking into your life.
I am grateful to my dad, who never supported me in useless things, which I believe makes a man lazy and easy-going, so whatever I learned and earned was done in a hard way, which taught me the value of hard work. When I see people with easy money and their lifestyles, I feel even more grateful to my father for the values of life he gave us.
I will give you another example. I remember when I joined the corporate world, my regional manager, who was our seminar manager, also helped me a lot in understanding the protocol. I was grateful for all his help because, without his help, it would have taken me a lot of time to face the audience during public meetings and seminars.
As an Indian, I know the value of gratitude, which has been our specialty since ancient times. Even in the Vedic era, we were taught to be grateful to our gurus, who were considered even before the gods, because gurus were the ones who taught us all about the world.
I am thankful to one of my teachers who laid emphasis on showing gratitude towards nature, and I am a nature lover thanks to him. We, the Indians, are otherwise also taught to worship rivers, trees, mountains, stones, the sun, moon, air, fields, grains, etc., and we are thankful to them for what they give us without expecting anything in return.
I am thankful to Mother Nature because, when I pray, I always thank her for all the beauty she has provided to this world. And I am thankful to God Almighty, who gave me peace of mind so I could pass another day without doing any wrong to anyone.
Do you think being grateful and counting your blessings everyday can make any difference in your life? Justify
In Indian culture, the definition of gratitude has been explained to humans through different examples. When we worship the gods, no matter what religion we belong to, we surrender ourselves to them without asking any questions whatsoever. In return, the gods also become grateful and stand by us in all our happiness and sorrow.
I feel there is a lack of gratitude today, as most people do not help selflessly. Even if they do something for someone, either they settle the accounts by saying thanks or not, in most cases. I believe the person who helps did his job well, but the person receiving help never expressed their gratitude or just said "thanks" and forgot everything.
To express gratitude, you have to make a promise to your soul that whenever you get an opportunity, I will help you or anyone like you in any way. After that, you can say thank you. And it is not equal until you keep your word. And mind you, an indebted person or person can never do any good to anyone, and to get some relief from this, gratitude has special importance.
Gratitude means being respectful to another person for the best and excellent help given to you and making a promise in your mind that you will do the same as and when you get a chance to do so. That is true gratitude. Therefore, this is an exceptional quality of humanity that is mandatory to follow.
In the end, if we feel ashamed to admit that we're grateful to someone who did something for us without any self-interest, that's the limit of hypocrisy in my humble opinion.
