SEC-S16/W3 - "Who has the strongest influence on children? Father, mother, teacher, siblings, or friends? "
A father in a family represents the head of the family. He represent government and authority. Just like when the government of a country is misbehaving and it's affects it's citizens that is how a father who is not performing the role of a father properly will cause a negative effect on the children. A father represents order. His suppose to bring order in the home and ensure that the children are disciplined and imbibe the right morals.
A mother is also a backbone in the home. A mother have a great influence on the children, many at times even more than the father. A mother is in charge of training the children especially the girl child on self esteem. A mother teaches the children to love, care and respect others. In some African homes mothers spent more time with the kids more than the father. She in charge of instilling values in the children.
A teacher's influence on the child is centered on brain and mind development.The teacher influences the child academically.A teacher continues from where the parents stopped in school. They influence the child academic performance and sometimes career choice.Have seen situations where a teacher did not know how to teach a particular subject and made the child to dislike the subject. Teachers can influence the academic performance of their pupils.
Siblings do have a strong influence on children, especially the first child. In most African homes parents strive to get it right with the first child as the other siblings will tend to follow the footsteps of the first child. It is very important to ensure that the first child is trained properly because they can greatly influence their siblings.
There is a saying "show me your friend and i tell you who you are" friends play a vital role in the life of children. They spent almost all day in school with their friends and these friends greatly influence them positively or negatively.
It is very important for parents to be close to their children and be sensitive because many at times a child that is influenced negatively was influenced because the parents did not properly love and care for them and seeing someone who shows them a bit of love they want to do anything to get the approval of that person. Friends play a vital role in the life of children.
