THE SORROWFUL CHRIST: A COMMEMORATION

INTRODUCTION: SORROW

Sorrow is a word that describes the pains, grief, sadness, distress and agony that one may go through in life. At one time or the, the forces of life could make or subject one into being in sorrowful mood. Sorrow could come from loss of a dead one, disappointment, failure, sickness or disease, or loss of properties.

There is nothing that makes sorrow to be a thing that one should admire to be in. In one way or the other, one could be traped in sorrow but it could happen helplessly. Nobody wants to have or to be associated with anything to do with sorrow. But this fact does not stop it from happening.

In my story, I would be using sorrow to make a story about the pains, agony, rejection, betrayal that jesus christ went through as captured in the chriatian holy bible.

THE SORROW 1

In christianity, the Easter is a period they use remembering the unbearable pains that thier master JESUS CHRIST, went through to salvage mankind. Now to start with, the christian holy bible records that CHRIST was concieved through the holy spirit as HE did not pass through the natural means of concetption.

After been given birth by MARY his mother, he grew in wisdom that made him to even challenge the elders. This drew the attention of everyone in the land. It happened up to the extent that the people started to question his origin. Some reffered to him as the son of the carpenter, being joseph.

The sorrowful journey of christ started when the news of christ declearing himself as the king, spread all over the place. This angered the rulers of the land as the accused him of enthrnoning himself as theking and then destrying the laws of the land. It did not end there. He was beaten and taken to the king who asked him several questions but he answered the questions in parables.

Christ knew that to save mankind, he would undergo serious sorrowful pains. This subjected him to go into a forty days and forty nights of praying and fasting. He did this assignment successully and in the course of the fasting, he was tempted by the enemy.

Many did not believe in his mission to save man even his own people did not believe. Making it one of the reasons went through severe oppositions.

THE SORROW 2

In the christian faith, it believed that their master JESUS CHRIST, came and suffered for them. The suffering was characterised by the sorrowful journey to the cross of calvary which is termed as the crucifixion of the savior, jesus christ. The sorrow could be summarized using this words:

  • He was chastised

  • He was bruised

  • He paid the debt he did not owe

  • He was ridiculed

  • He was crucified

  • He was shamed

  • He was nailed on the cross

  • He wore thorns like a crown
All these words paints the picture of sorrows that christ went through to save his people. On going through these sorrowful journey also, his ribs were pierced and the crown of thorns he wore, gushed blood out of his body.

THE SORROW 3

This is the sorrow that led Christ to the grave and his ultimate resurrection after being taken down as dead from the cross and buried in the grave.

Christ is described as spirit-man. As a man, he was seen bled, died and buried. As a spirit, he is able to rise from the grave in three days and manifested himself taking the form of man in flesh. This is the point at which the holy bible describes him as the eternal life of whom anybody who believes in him, should have it abundantly.

For me, Choosing the word “SORROW" to paint a picture as required by the host of this contest is right. This is because of this season of easter that the christian community uses to mark or observe the sorrowful journey of their savior,Jesus christ. They believe that Jesus christ the son of the living God, went through sorrow and pains to redeem man back to God. So for the purpose of redeemption, someone who is spotless or sinless, has to die in place of those who has gone astray from the will of God.

I now invite the following persons to participate in this contest:

Sorrow is a common thing regardless of size, gender, and haves or have-not. Jesus also suffered that sorrow and teaches us it's normal.
