The write went ahead to explain that the igloo is an Inuit word for shelter and it’s used by the Inuit people for shelter from cold in the attic. The attic regions are very cold region hence the igloo has become a land make structure for the inuit people as a means to survive the harsh freezing weather in the attic region.

The igloos are of three sizes, the small, intermediate and the largest sizes. He proceeded to explain that the igloos were used as temporary structures to protect from cold when they go for hunting and the igloos are made from ice and snow blocks and has dome like shapes.

The building of the igloos requires careful tactics and thorough work with the blocks made from ice and the dome structure of the igloo helps to bring about the stability of the structure to avoid collapse. Since it’s built from snow, it acts as an insulator to maintain heat inside and the windows are built at lower places to avoid cold air entering the igloo. The igloo was a great symbol of cultural adaptation and the knowledge of how to build them was passed from generation to generation for the Inuit people even though there are modern versions of the igloo adapted in different regions of the world nowadays.

Reason for selecting the post.

The reason I selected the post as the best I’ve read this week is because the post was highly educative and very easy for even a my man to understand. He gave many insights on the topic which was given for discussion. In the contest, we were asked to choose between five objects and write anything about them. The objects included horse, cold, helmet, igloo and … He was the only one that wrote about the igloo and his explanations were quite interpreted read and very educational. The subject of the igloo is not widely known and he did justice to it and hence emerged one of the winners of the contest.

What did you learn from this post?

I learnt so much about the igloo, how it’s built, the reason why the Inuit people adopted it as part of their culture and its significance and the meaning. I can share my idea of the subject with another person and I was only able to k ow this after going through his post.
