From the creators of the famous Clash of Clans, Clash Royale is a freemium fast paced tower rush mobile game. Where Players pick a deck of 8 “cards” or in-game characters to fight for them in an arena head to head against other players. You win by destroying your opponent’s crown towers while defending your own.

Gameplay:

Playable troops, and spells are represented as cards. Many cards are directly based on troops and buildings from Supercell's previous game Clash of Clans. Prior to each battle, players construct a deck of eight cards which they use to attack and defend against their opponent's cards.

Here's a deck that I use for example.

Each card costs a certain amount of elixir to play. Players start the battle with five elixir points, and one elixir point is replenished every 2.8 seconds, to a maximum of ten elixir points bar.

Each game lasts 3 minutes with a possible overtime of 2 minutes for a total of 5 minutes.

Progression:

Players are ranked by their number of trophies. Players level up by gaining Experience (or King Level) points through donating and upgrading cards. The highest possible level is level 14 as of the latest October 2021 update.

Trophies are won or lost through multiplayer battles, a player wins a battle by destroying more towers than the opponent, or by destroying the opponent's King's Tower, resulting in an automatic "three-crown" victory.

There are fifteen playing arenas in total excluding the tutorial arena which you move up through them by increasing your trophies.

Starting from Experience level 1, players can join or form clans. Joining or forming a clan enables the player to engage in friendly battles and clan wars. It also unlocks the feature of trading and requesting cards from clanmates after becoming level 2.

Opinion:

It's a fun mobile game which you can pass some time with on your phone from time to time, just don't think of it as something you will be playing constantly for long periods of time at once. In my opinion, it's a "jump in, play couple of matches, and get out" type of game. However, playing it with friends is much more fun and engaging.

It certainly has lost much of its hype since when it started, but MANY still play it and probably will for a long time.

The graphics are simplistic but nice, the match gameplay mechanics are fast paced, engaging with plenty of skill, experience, and quick tactical thinking involved.

The progression takes very long if you don't want to spend any money on it, but you certainly don't need to max your cards/king tower to enjoy playing it.

So in the end, It is fun and I do recommend playing it or checking it out if you haven't, just keep in mind that it's not a 24/7 type of game where you can progress the more you play, it's simply fun to play few matches in your spare time.

Sort:

How long have you been playing this game? Looks crazy how far you have gotten.

I'd say played it about 3-4 years ago the first time, leaving it for months at a time. It's not crazy far really, king level 11 with only few maxed cards 🤷‍♂️

Royale is dope, you have to invest a bit of time, but if you religiously grind you can get to king 10 within 3 months plus minus

Yeah no time to grind for it
