Star Wars in Fortnite Battle
Fortnite has made history again today. Never before in a video game has a live film director appeared to address his fans and offer them an unpublished fragment of his next film. Not only that: the chosen one has been J.J. Abrams and the film, of course, Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker.
The event has not consisted simply of bringing the players together in Committed Reels and releasing a scene from the movie, far from it. Everything has started with the Millennium Falcon furrowing the skies of the game to then engage in a skirmish with several Tie Fighters, after which it has perched on a platform and several avatars have left it: Keighley, a stormtrooper and his own JJ Abrams All live.
As if that were not enough, the event has ended with the players receiving a lightsaber of the color they had chosen to beat each other for a while before returning to normal. In addition, all attendees were scheduled to take the Tie Whisper hang glider as a gift.
I still do not have figures on the number of players who have attended the event, but I imagine that it must have been monstrous simply because of the failures that the game servers have been giving minutes before everything started, which has also led to those responsible to delay the event 10 minutes to try to solve the problems and to keep out the least number of fans.
