The find on the shore of the pond
I like to collect photos of elements of the urban environment, so I couldn't get past this flock of columns. But their purpose remains a mystery to me. I walked around these columns several times, trying to understand how they could be used in this place. But the answer was never found. I have to take as the right last version: these columns appeared in this place by accident.
The curbstones were most likely moved to the lawn during the repair, and then forgotten. These columns could mark the border of the sidewalk or stand at the entrance to the gateway to protect it. Now they lined up in the direction from Sofiysky Boulevard to the Kolonistsky Pond in Pushkin.
These are simple granite columns, they are often used in the city as limiters. They have a cylindrical shape, the upper part is slightly wider than the lower. Often you can find similar columns made of cast iron. Cast iron columns are often decorated with ornaments. Sometimes it is possible to meet curbstones of the difficult unusual form.
