THE MOST BEAUTIFUL MOMENTS OF MY LIFE

Hi Steemians, I bide you all a good morning.

The most beautiful moment of my life would be when I enrolled in a catering class, and on alternate days, I would stay back home to bake, ice and embellish.

Just as the adage reels off: ‘Rome was not built in one day’, I did not rise to perfection deftly on my first attempt. In fact, it was a tug of war for me. I just binged on several pictures of garish cakes on the media styled and pictured to perfection. There was an air of imperfection that stirred up my diffidence; I envisaged if I
would be able to embellish cakes to perfection.

After several weeks into the coaching of basics in catering: techniques of catering, sizes of nozzles, oven operation and numerous others, my boss and me finally decided to make a cake. Well, it was an order my boss got; so she suggested we made it together since I have never seen her doing the whole magic, as I often called it.

To say that I enjoyed the whole process was a charade; I was underwhelmed. There were lots of elements contributive to it. One was that she did not drip the cake as I thought other bakers do, but had to improvise on the sides with butter icing pipings. From that moment, something galvanised me into trying baking myself. I wanted to bake and embellish to perfection; I felt I could try to be perfect anyway.

I baked a chocolate cake actually. Because, I wanted something unusual though I pretty much knew how to make other scrummies like coconut and vanilla sponge cakes. I went for chocolate cake.
I was so happy yet saturated with fits of satisfaction: I finally baked not just any crap, but a perfect cake.

Prodded by the encouragement of my first trial, I was adventurous to try other colours and designs; so I iced my dummy and combed it to perfection. It was indeed another happiest day of my life, a penultimate attempt.

I was enthused to try yet another design; I settled for this nicety. Although I had made three cakes in a row, this, in particular, gave me more aplomb that I was near perfection; I could actually bake and embellish to perfection; I could even do way better than my boss who had spent years practising the skill, if and only if, I am consistent.
