The Sacred Monkey Forest || Monuments of my City #3

Hi, I don't know it's a monument or not. But I want to tell you something interesting.

A long time ago. There is a historical legend of the Ramayana that tells about the construction of a long bridge named Situbanda. The bridge was made by an army of monkeys, by direct supervision of Sri Rama who is an incarnation of God.

Since then, according to the beliefs of the Hindu community in Bali, monkeys are considered sacred animals.

Monkeys and the legend of their existence have become an important element in the artistic tradition in Bali. Balinese dances such as the Kecak and the Ramayana ballet monkeys have always been prominent figures in this story.

Monkey habitat is protected, like in Monkey Forest. Mandala Suci Wenara Wana or also called Monkey Forest Ubud is a nature reserve and temple complex located in the village of Padangtegal Ubud, Bali.

As a sense of togetherness, you can live in peace with the monkeys, in every place and the street in Ubud is always a monkey statue with various shapes and behaviors like a human being.
