What in past governments was a "garbage dump" is now a place for recreational, cultural activities and for political encounters, Rodríguez said about the premiere of this 1,350-square-meter work, located in front of the Great Wall of Petare.

Leaving the subway station, Petareños and passers-by come across the equestrian statue of the Liberator, a large-scale work that is currently being executed by the director of the Arturo Michelena School of Plastic Arts in Valencia and statuary sculptor, Williams Valera.

The statue is installed on its pedestal and was made of concrete and resin. Valera explained that for the process of realization, he analyzed and ergonomically detailed the anatomical data of the horse and with this information he made a metal structure, then with potter's clay he proceeded to model the figure, first the horse and then the rider.

Next, when the figure was finished, he transferred it to a resin mold and proceeded to cast it in polyester resin. “Everything that was made in clay is recorded because it is an unstable material and it must be placed in a stable one like plaster and, finally, it was taken to polyester resin, which is the material that is being used right now in the squares due to its resistance ”, he narrowed.

The Venezuelan sculptor has more than 40 years of experience and has made more than 400 statues in the country, realistic pieces based on historical facts, including the equestrian statue of the Liberator in Plaza Bolívar in the Independencia municipality (San Felipe), in Yaracuy state.
