Club100 Contest Steem Plants Week 40 - Coat Buttons: A Toxic Beauty

Hello everyone. It's been a while but I am so happy to be able to participate again here in one of my favorite contests, the Steem Plants Contest hosted by @strawberrry. Check out the contest post and the rules and regulations here. Invite friends to join too.

This particular plant is a weed that grows at the empty lot at the back of our house. I had taken numerous photos of them in the past, some as far back as May of 2021, in the hope of making a post about them. Well, after more than a year, I finally did the post. Here is the plant.

This, I found out, is the Tridax Procumbens. It is commonly known as Coat Buttons or Tridax Daisy. Here's what Wikipedia says about it.

Tridax procumbens, commonly known as coatbuttons or tridax daisy, is a species of flowering plant in the family Asteraceae. It is best known as a widespread weed and pest plant. It is native to the tropical Americas including Mexico, but it has been introduced to tropical, subtropical, and mild temperate regions worldwide. It is listed as a noxious weed in the United States and has pest status in nine states. Wikipedia

As explained above, the Tridax Procumbens is a toxic weed and should not be eaten. It is ground hugging except for the flower stalk which grows up. Do not eat this plant.

There is also another remarkable feature I discovered with the Tridax flower. When it withers, it looks quite cool. Something like icicles around a small ball. Take a look.
