Benefits of the Application of Maslow's Theory in the Work Environment

Greetings dear fellow members of the "Proyect Hope" community, I hope you are all very well, it is a pleasure to share with you this post, this time I want to present a topic that I consider very important for organizations, specifically related to personnel management, this time the benefits that can bring to companies using psychological tools that allow employees to feel satisfied with their work and thus are always motivated in achieving the objectives of the organization.

This time I want to analyze Maslow's theory, and apply it to the work environment, determining the needs of employees. I believe that it is of great benefit to improve the performance of employees, that the managers of organizations analyze the needs of the same from what this theory proposes, since ensuring that their employees have their needs covered will allow them to maintain a greater motivation in achieving the objectives of the organization.

This theory is based on the motivation of individuals, its reasoning states that all the actions of individuals are aimed at satisfying certain needs. There are different degrees of priorities, ordered, for each of them.

Initially, there are the basic needs for individuals: those that have to do with survival, among them, physiological, security and affiliation. Once the basic ones are obtained, it is necessary to continue climbing and develop other higher needs. Finally, recognition and self-fulfillment will be the main objective to achieve.

Let's analyze the needs of employees:

Physiological, these needs are focused on having a stable source of income that allows them to have food, clothes, a house, the employee will try to stay in a company that has financial stability.

Safety, for employees it is very important to develop in a safe workplace, all this related to risk prevention, ergonomics, hygiene, in addition to having health insurance and pensions.

Affiliation, this refers to the establishment of good interpersonal relationships, for employees it is very important that managers promote teamwork, and care about generating an excellent working environment.

Recognition, the employee will strive to do his job very well, it is important that in this case the organization recognizes the merit of this job well done, this will promote self-confidence.

Self-realization, this corresponds to personal growth, employees who show the need to prosper personally, will require opportunities to perform more demanding work, allowing them to develop their creativity, and allow them to manage problems.

In conclusion, it is important that managers who are in charge of their staff, consider determining the needs of their employees, since the satisfaction of these needs would increase their motivation, positively impacting the development of the company.
