The South Korean National Assembly passed an amendment to the tax law. Starting in 2022, a 20% tax will be imposed on the investment income of cryptocurrencies over 2.5 million won (approximately RMB 14,853) per year. The relevant bill will be implemented in January 2022. However, the cryptocurrency investment income obtained in one year is less than 2.5 million won, and no tax is imposed. According to previous reports, South Korea had planned to start levying cryptocurrency revenue tax on October 1, 2021. After that, the South Korean Congress Planning and Finance Committee pointed out in November this year that it is necessary to consider the start date of taxation of cryptocurrency from 2021 October is postponed for at least three months until January 1, 2022.
