Elon Musk tells G20: Taking over Twitter has increased his workload "Quite a bit".

Billionaire Elon Musk said Monday that his recent takeover of Twitter — along with his existing duties as CEO of Tesla and SpaceX — has caused his workload to increase "quite a bit," following a tumultuous two weeks at the social media platform that included mass layoffs.

KEY FACTS

Speaking at the B20 business forum in Bali on Monday, ahead of a key G-20 summit, Musk said he was working "from morning to night" seven days a week, adding that he had "that's for sure" on his plate.

Addressing business leaders via video conference, Musk said he wasn't sure how many people would actually "want to be me," adding "the amount I torture myself with is next level, frankly."

Musk reiterated his plan to bring long-form video to Twitter and allow content creators to monetize it, without offering specifics.

In an apparent acknowledgment of criticism of his handling of Twitter, Musk said there was no way to make everyone happy.

As for Tesla, the electric car maker's CEO said it would consider developing a low-cost electric vehicle for developing markets such as Indonesia and India.

NEWS PEG

Musk's statement about his heavy workload comes just hours after Platformer Casey Newton reported that Twitter had laid off 4,400 of its 5,500 contract employees worldwide. Many of these workers were based in countries like India and reportedly handled content moderation, real estate, and marketing for the company.

The handling of these latest layoffs has drawn criticism as workers received no notice and discovered they had been let go after losing access to Slack — the company's internal chat app — and their work email. The decision is likely to raise further questions about content moderation on the platform, which has prompted advertisers to suspend spending on the platform.

KEY BACKGROUND

Twitter has faced a tumultuous two weeks since Musk took over the company, as it has lost a significant portion of its workforce, and key leaders and had to rush into key new functions. Late last week, the platform was forced to suspend its $8-a-month Twitter Blue service after just a few days.

This feature allowed users to get a blue verification badge without ID verification. As many predicted, opening the blue tick to anyone willing to pay a fee launched a host of copycat accounts, causing confusion and leading to the spread of misinformation on the platform.

Armed with the blue tick on Twitter, impersonators have targeted everyone from political leaders such as President Joe Biden, and former Presidents Donald Trump and George Bush, along with major brands such as Pepsi, Nintendo, BP, and Eli Lilly.

Handling such a big company could be a tedious task Elon musk is doing great with his work he has big dream of addressing censorship hope his big dream come true.

I wouldn't want to be Elon Musk, if that's the price I have to pay for being a billionaire, I'd rather be on this side of the wax.

It seems to me a good idea to offer electric cars more accessible in price, the bills that pay for a verification that should fix it is not honest.

Greetings friend and thanks for your input.

To be honest I do not know what he is trying to do with Twitter and the recent changes that he's doing is creating a lot of issues for the people associated with Twitter

G20 members call for people to be sensored. Wasn't Elon about free speech? Hmmmm
